In the frame twice from three attempts and not beaten far on either of those occasions, including on good at Musselburgh last time. Can again go well, though clearly vulnerable.

Yard not noted for its bumper winners and this £800 buy beat just the one home in an 11-runner field at Stratford on his only start, last June. Unlikely to be seen home in front this time.
First foal of a mare who won both a bumper and a 2m hurdle and by a top National Hunt stallion. In-form stable has a respectable 11% strike rate in this sphere and market will be a very interesting guide to his chance on debut.

Despite the official placings, he has not been too far away in his last couple of starts at Warwick and Lingfield. Would not need to improve a vast amount to be involved in the shake-up today and represents a stable with a 10% strike rate in this discipline.

£6,000 buy as a three-year-old and bred to get a fair bit further than this. Raced keenly up front until weakening on Carlisle debut and can improve on that if settling better.

Full-brother to bumper and 2m3f-2m6f chase winner Crowning Jewel out of a bumper/2m1f hurdle winner and from the family of top class chaser Direct Route. Hinted strongly at that excellent pedigree when making a good debut at Newcastle last month. If settling better he should take some beating.

Stable not had a bumper winner in over five seasons, which makes this representative's Wetherby debut (good) last month a very creditable effort. Should build on that and with 10lb claimer on board again he should not be far away.

Didn't see the racecourse when with Roger Varian and made debut for this yard at Wetherby last month when a respectable 15L fourth (good to soft) at 66/1. Stable's recent runners going as well as can be expected and he should be able to improve today.
€24,000 yearling and half-brother to bumper and 2m4f hurdle/chase winner Mister Wall Street. Dam was a winner in France at 1m/1m2f and half-sister to a 2m2f Listed hurdle winner. Stable in good form and 15% in this discipline, so a market check very much advised.

£2,000 yearling who made a pleasing debut at Musselburgh last month when going well for a long way. Should do better this afternoon.

Forecasts

Sultans Pride (3/1), Myplaceatmidnight (10/3), Potters Hedger (7/2), Brunel Woods (5/1), Mr Dorrell Sage (15/2), Duffy Allen (9/1), Forbidding (16/1), Royal Act (20/1), Wee Bogus (25/1), Jimbet (50/1)

Verdict

An interesting bumper to bring the curtain down on the card and SULTANS PRIDE looks the one to be supporting after a decent debut. The gelding is related to bumper winners and Brian Hughes can help settle him better, which should pay dividends. Duffy Allen should be involved in the battle for the minors along with Potters Hedger and newcomers Myplaceatmidnight and Mr Dorrell Sage.
  1. Sultans Pride
  2. Mr Dorrell Sage
  3. Myplaceatmidnight
