Sure to be straighter for recent Naas pipe opener and despite having a big weight comes into calculations on the balance of his from last term. Rates a major player.

Golden Pearl8
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-1| J: S Foley| T: M Halford| OR:  81
9/2
Lightly raced 4yo who caught the eye on her seasonal return when staying on late after being denied a clear run. Yard have begun the term in fair form so should be thereabouts.

Hasn't got her head in front since 2yo debut but ran a number of decent races in defeat last term. Disappointing recently at Naas though and this soft ground specialist might find the ground plenty lively enough.

Drops back to this trip for the first time in 21 race career and might find things happening fast enough. Strong pace would help though and may be staying on when others tire.

One time decent handicapper. Into the veteran stage now but has run creditably last two starts on turf. Not ruled out, but others may have the legs of him where it matters most.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-9| J: W J Lee| T: E J O'Grady| OR:  75

Speedy sort who appears best on soft ground. Never figured on seasonal return and connections apply a first time tongue tie here which might make a difference. Needs to improve.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-8| J: Declan McDonogh| T: A Slattery| OR:  74

Both career successes have come after a lay off so long absence not a negative. Stable currently operating at 25 per-cent winning strike rate so no surprise to see him go well.

Barron's Ladt22
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: C P Hoban| T: M M McNiff| OR:  70

Landed Navan maiden last term but patchy form since. Not completely disgraced on first start of the season and might well be better for that run. Market may indicate what's expected.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-3| J: N G McCullagh| T: A Slattery| OR:  69

Lightly raced 4yo who showed ability first three starts but struggled when trailing in last at Leopardstown last month on seasonal debut. Only allowed 1lb for that effort and may need more help from the handicapper.

Ken's Sam'sp,t38
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-3| J: C O'Donoghue| T: A B Joyce| OR:  69

Showed little on turf last season but has done better on the AW this winter, including when winning at Dundalk last month. Not certain to transfer that form back to grass but fitness is guaranteed.

Age: 5|  Weight: 8-12| J: O J Orr(5)| T: E Lynam| OR:  64

Won first time out last season (off 2lb lower mark) so absence no great concern. Today's rider gets on well with him so no great surprise to see him figure in the shake up.

The Mcgregornatorp1239
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-10| J: L F Roche| T: A Keatley| OR:  73

Landed Curraghaamiden on heavy ground last term before becoming disappointing. Seems at best when the mud is flying so needs plenty of rain to fall before coming into the reckoning.

Botanical Ladyh180
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-5| J: Sean Davis(7)| T: H Rogers| OR:  57
16/1
Overcame nine month absence to win first time out last season so no real fitness concerns on this first start of the term. Won over C&D in August and seems one of the more likely winners in this field.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-5| J: Chris Hayes| T: J A Stack| OR:  57

Yard absolutely flying at the moment so has to be considered even though still a maiden. Tongue tie applied for first time today may help and any market support would be highly significant.

Sixtysix22
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-5| J: A J Breslin(7)| T: W McCreery| OR:  68

Only 3yo in the field making handicap debut so faces a task, but showed ability at modest level last term and shaped with some promise on recent run in Naas maiden. Not without hope.

Forecasts

Golden Pearl (9/2), Mr Right (6/1), A Few Dollars More (6/1), Severus (8/1), Louis Leroy (8/1), Bubbly Bellini (10/1), He's Complete (10/1), Ken's Sam's (12/1), Botanical Lady (16/1), Athas An Bhean (16/1), Sixtysix (16/1), Fair Game (18/1), Barron's Lad (20/1), The Mcgregornator (33/1), Feotanach (33/1)

Verdict

BOTANICAL LADY has been off for a while but tends to go well fresh and is a previous C&D winner. She has a sporting chance of landing the spoils. A Few Dollars More is aonther who goes well after a break and yard is in form, a comment that also applies to the maiden He's Complete, who may run better than his form figures suggest. Top weights Mr Right and Golden Pearl are others who should be on the premises, the latter worth noting in the betting market.
  1. Botanical Lady
  2. Golden Pearl
  3. A Few Dollars More
