Ran well over this sort of trip at Aintree in December, well below that form in subsequent runs over further and should find the drop back to his liking now.

Special Wells49
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Parkinson & S Smith| OR:  124

Scored a quick double either side of the New Year but came crashing down to earth at Newcastle in February when last seen, running a very disappointing race.

Veteran was in excellent form in the autumn, racking up a double at Perth and just missing out at Hexham, didn't appear to see out 3m2f around here in October but should find this more appealing coming off a break.

Won his last two starts, both at this track and over hurdles. Clearly in good heart but his ability to replicate that form over fences has to be taken on trust given he was poor in two prior attempts.

Presenting Junior61
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: Henry Brooke| T: M Todhunter| OR:  109

A consistent chaser at his best, he hasn't won for two years and recent efforts do pose questions over how much ability he retains. Drops back in trip significantly.

Forecasts

Lord Ballim (5/6), Presenting Junior (4/1), Special Wells (7/1), Whats Up Woody (7/1), Baileys Concerto (15/2)

Verdict

Lord Ballim has twice won at this track this year over hurdles and he should go close if able to reproduce those efforts now tackling fences again. There are enough doubts about that ability to bypass him however and the vote is instead handed to WHATS UP WOODY. He was in fine fettle back in the autumn, scoring off a break at Perth before adding a double there and running with credit at Hexham. His final race of the sequence was here and the longer trip may have proved his undoing. Baileys Concerto will be suited back at this distance while Special Wells has to bounce back from a flop at Newcastle last time.
  1. Whats Up Woody
  2. Baileys Concerto
  3. Lord Ballim
