Without a win since 2014 and stable without a win since October. Different trips, tactics and headgear have failed to have a positive effect. Best watched until signalling a revival in fortunes.

C&D winner who has been holding her form well this winter. Last two victories have come under today's rider. Just failed under an inexperienced amateur last time and she has an excellent chance of landing her 10th career victory.

This will be his 10th race since landing a minor event under this young rider at Chelmsford in November. A 6lb drop in the weights since then is a clear sign of his subsequent decline.

Has two C&D wins under the champion jockey. It is some time since he has been competitive off this mark but this is not a strong race.

Well beaten in all seven career outings. An attempt to make all in first time blinkers failed last time and he now drops to 6f with plenty to find.

Forecasts

Panther Patrol (15/8), Essaka (9/4), Beau Mistral (11/4), Doctor Parkes (6/1), Magical Peak (33/1)

Verdict

Tony Carroll holds the key to this with ESSAKA and Beau Mistral. They are in significantly better form than their three rivals and are closely matched on today's weights. Beau Mistral has held her form well on the AW this winter and she goes well for today's rider. She is weighted to the hilt now but ran well from this mark last time and has a fitness advantage over ESSAKA. The latter will be partnered by the champion jockey who has steered him to two C&D successes. The latest of these in October has worked out well and his form on turf looks much better than that of his stable mate. A reproduction of that effort should be good enough.
  1. Essaka
  2. Beau Mistral
  3. Panther Patrol
