Well named £26,000 yearling filly out of Branston Gem by Helmet. A half-sister to seven winners and hails from a stable with a proven track record with two-year-old's. Stables Rocket Man Dan showed plenty of early speed in the Brocklesby before weakening, so fully respected.
€7,000 yearling by Holy Roman Emperor who showed plenty of early toe, but couldn't maintain the gallop when finishing eighth of 11 to Rock Of Estonia at Windsor on Monday.

Stablemate of Controversial Lady who was one of a pair of this trainers horses to venture to Saint-Cloud last week to make her debut in a 4.5F claimer. She finished seventh of 14 (stablemate Quick Steps Lad fourth). This test will be a sterner one on a stiffer track.

Beaten a head by Jasi in a four runner Southwell novice stakes last week. Difficult to know what to make of that form and cost only £1,000 as a yearling, and could have been better drawn today.
€38,000 foal by Choisir out of Margaret's Dream and a sister to 1m two-year-old winner Olympic Legend. Owned by regular Newcastle sponsor John Dance who would surely be keen to have had a filly tuned up for this valuable early season prize.

Third foal by Poet's Voice out of Rosa Mundi and a half-sister to 7F Newcastle AW winner Bint Arcano. Hails from a yard that often do well with their juveniles for owner Jaber Abdullah.

Second foal Declaration of War filly out of Miss Mediator, and a half-sister to 1m AW winner Galahad. Carries the colour of a leading owner, but has the worst of the draw to overcome in order to make a winning start.

Fifth foal by Harbour Watch out of Isobel Rose, and a half-sister to 6F to 7F AW winner Sakhee's Rose. Handily drawn on debut.

Stable have found winners hard to come by of late, and this second foal by Sayif out of a Pivotal mare (Fiancee) would need to be sharp in order to buck that trend. However, she is a half-sister to 5F winning two-year-old Secret Potion.

Forecasts

Cheeseandpickle (7/2), Kheleyf's Girl (7/2), Marsh Storm (4/1), Peace Prevails (4/1), Nsnas Alward (17/2), Thrifty (10/1), Controversial Lady (16/1), Fas Le Fios (40/1), Time For Treacle (80/1)

Verdict

An early season guessing game, but you'd be surprised if a few trainers haven't targeted this valuable fillies prize, so it's entirely plausible that we might witness an above average winner. With this in mind, the names of Dalgleish, Burke, Ryan and Fahey leap off the page. Each of those four trainers saddle a newcomer, and it's worth taking a chance on the well drawn Choisir filly MARSH STORM. She represents local owner John Dance, and he's almost certainly likely to have set aim at this race with one of his most forward juveniles..
  1. Marsh Storm
  2. Nsnas Alward
  3. Cheeseandpickle
