Winner a year ago but has been lightly raced and poorly handicapped since. Task looks even tougher from a poor draw.

Dual C&D winner who seemed to be running into form at the turn of the year. However, last two efforts have been dreadful despite the assistance of top riders.

Showed a bit more last time under today's young rider. Makes handicap debut and the assessor has not been generous.

Six-time winner is only 1lb above the mark when scoring over C&D in January. Should again account for Nasri and Rigoletto on that form. Has the early tactical speed to cope with a wide draw

Veteran of 123 races and has won two of his last seven. Had no chance with an easy winner last time but needs to overcome a poor draw.

Four-time C&D winner whose last win came off a mark of 61. Tends to give himself plenty to do but would have a chance if finding top gear early enough. Visor replaces blinkers.

Has hit a rich vein of form and lines up for his 100th career start having won 12 times previously. Goes well for this young rider and cannot rule out another prominent display.

Has met Nasri twice recently with the score 1-1 between the pair. Benefited from an enterprising ride when hanging on grimly to beat that rival at Chelmsford in February. The pair are closely matched, but marginal preference would have to be for Nasri to confirm recent C&D placings.

Came to hand early last season when wining two of her first three starts (both over 5f). Stable have been going well lately but she is yet to prove she gets the extra furlong. Still to make the first three on an AW surface.

Closely matched with Encapsulated judged on two recent encounters with preference, on today's terms, for this veteran. Beaten at Chelmsford last time and that effort gives him something to find with Mambo Spirit.

Has gone three years without a win and has been busy since January. Those six races suggest it will take more than cheekpieces alone to halt the decline. Races from a mark 5lb out of the handicap.

Well beaten at long odds in a short career. Yet to reveal any signs of promise and comes here on a mark which is 5lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Nasri (9/2), New Rich (5/1), Swendab (11/2), Go Amber Go (13/2), Encapsulated (15/2), Pocket Warrior (8/1), Compton Prince (9/1), Spellmaker (16/1), Rigolleto (20/1), Mambo Spirit (20/1), Hellarious (50/1), Catalyze (50/1)

Verdict

COMPTON PRINCE holds a few of these based on his last C&D success in January. Milton Bradley's charge has held his form well since then and looks the answer to a tricky opener. He has most to fear from New Rich who will come home with his usual late rattle and is down to a winning mark. Swendab is the best drawn of the horses who arrive in form. He has won two of his last four and is more than capable of adding to that haul.
  1. Compton Prince
  2. New Rich
  3. Swendab
