Good jumping pedigree and should make a decent staying chaser in time. Yard have a decent strike rate in these events and any money for this one on debut should be noted.

Yard are 1-8 in bumpers this year, that winner coming at Aintree on Thursday. Some speed in the family but more than likely will want further in time. Requires a market check at the very least.

Made a decent start to his career when third to Irish Prophecy at Kempton, running green in the latter stages but staying on nicely. Will have learnt from that and this speed test should suit. One of the more likely ones for yard going well.
Half brother to recent Uttoxeter winner Indian Brave, and this one will want further than a bare 2m in time. From same yard as Call Me Westie and jockey bookings suggest this is first string. Still more likely winners on paper, and best watched.

Point-to-point form nothing to write home about and no stars in the family. Yard yet to have a winner in this sphere and best watched on debut.

Won an Irish point-to-point last March and purchased by current connections for £50,000 the month after at a Horses In Training sales. Not pulled up any trees in two recent starts but yard have a tremendous record in these races and better ground here may help. Too soon to write off.
Dead-heated in an Irish point-to-point in December (other winner, Empire Burleque, won a bumper for Gordon Elliott at first time of asking) and has joined a yard that do well in bumpers. Looks one of the more likely contenders.
Had two starts in bumpers already and not seen out since finishing midfield in a decent race for the grade at Newbury in January. Not hard to think that needs improving on and may be one that needs a bit of time.
Half-brother to the yard's smart hurdler/chaser Le Prezien and clearly bred to be decent himself. Yard have a good record in bumpers and have, in the past, introduced a classy newcomer in this race, Plenty of positives to take and must be a player.

Forecasts

Mont Des Avaloirs (2/1), Truckers Lodge (3/1), Frankie Rapper (6/1), Cloth Cap (6/1), Vodka All The Way (8/1), Cobalt Marthen (12/1), Oscar Mor (12/1), Mahler's First (25/1), Not A Role Model (33/1)

Verdict

Paul Nicholls has introduced some good newcomers in this race over the seasons, and won it (at the first time of asking) with the useful The Tother One and Sin Bin. Given that, it can be expected that Mont Des Avaloirs can be expected to be wound up enough to deliver. He's bred to be useful and can win at the expense of Frankie Rapper, who will improve from his debut and Truckers Lodge, who's point-to-point form has already had a boost.
  1. Mont Des Avaloirs
  2. Frankie Rapper
  3. Truckers Lodge
