Formerly with Paul Nicholls, but has failed to complete in two of his four races over fences for this trainer, and wears the first time cheek-pieces today. Dropping in the weights (123 to 112), and although his fencing is a concern, he was in the process of running a fair race last time behind Ascot De Bruyere (beaten since) when unseating his rider at the last.
Unseated his rider in the same race in which Hawkhurst competed at Kelso late last month (Ascot De Bruyere finished alone). That was just his second ever start over fences, and his second run for this yard (formerly with Stuart Edmunds), so he can perhaps do better if brushing up on his jumping over time.
Beaten a head by Feast Of Fire on his final start for John Wade at Cartmel in May 2016. Stayed in the same yard, with this trainer now based there, but badly detached and hopelessly tailed off on return at Wetherby late last month. Likely to take a few runs to return to form (one time useful sort for Jonjo O'Neill).
Appeared to be a strong stayer when landing a New Years Day novices handicap chase at Musselburgh (almost 3m good), but twice beaten from higher marks since. Back from a short break, and you just wonder whether connections have tinkered with his wind with the first time tongue tie now added to blinkers. No surprise if he returns to form from the front end.
Has won his last two races over hurdles at Taunton (both 2m3f) in a most decisive manner, but has taken the predictable hike in the handicap and is now rated 115 in that sphere. Makes his chasing debut today as a result, and looks sure to go well if translating that hurdles improvement to fences on ground which holds no fears.
No real promise in four starts for this stable, including last time when making her chasing debut at Doncaster in January (eighth of ten to Ypsilanti). Likely to struggle.
11 race maiden, who produced a very low key chasing debut when fifth of seven (last of those to complete) over 3m1f at Southwell in February behind Cleeve Cottage. Little reason to expect any significant improvement.

Master Burbidge makes his fencing debut from what could turn out to be a good mark after comfortably winning a pair of 2m3f Taunton handicap hurdles over the course of the past six weeks. Opposition is relatively thin on the ground, but Hawkhurst must be respected from a falling mark if he can get his jumping together. Nevertheless, a chance is taken that ROLLING THUNDER can bounce back to the type of form that saw him win over a slightly longer trip at Musselburgh on New Years Day. He looks a most interesting runner for Donald McCain with the first time tongue-tie a rather curious addition.
