Unbeaten in two previous AW starts and winner on two occasions for today's rider. Hacked up in a similarly weak race on Saturday and makes a quick reappearance under a penalty. This requires him to win off a career high mark but the opposition are not in the best of form. Drops slightly in trip but has won over shorter in the past.

Winner of a Haydock maiden two years ago and form has had few highlights since. Will strip fitter for his latest run but reliability issues make him hard to recommend.

Veteran has only had four races since his last victory in 2014. Has shown he retains ability on both recent starts and looks an obvious danger to the forecast favourite.

Remains a maiden after 14 races under both codes. Has shown little worthwhile ability and new trip now tried in an attempt to find an answer.

16-race maiden has only been placed once. May have done too much over too far last time. Looks exposed but two of his best runs have been over C&D.

Forecasts

Masterson (2/5), Oyster Card (6/1), Soundbyte (10/1), The Lampo Genie (11/1), King Julien (12/1)

Verdict

MASTERSON does not necessarily appeal as one to take a short price about. All the same he has to be the selection given a shortage of alternatives. Mick Channon's charge was always travelling like a winner when collecting here on Saturday and connections bid to follow up before the handicapper takes charge. Oyster Card is a free running sort who has run some good races around here. He could make a bold bid from the front whilst Soundbyte clearly has a small race in him still. A line through Topalova gives him a bit to find with the selection.
  1. Masterson
  2. Oyster Card
  3. Soundbyte
