Peaked when runner-up here in September. Found little under pressure last time and now steps up to 1m2f. Pedigree and front running style make that move a gamble.

Weak in the market when soundly beaten in two slowly run races that looked weaker than this. Steps up in trip but looks more likely to be one to monitor in handicaps after today.

Son of Galileo out of a mare who was a half-sister to Fasiliyev. Showed promise in a typical Newmarket back end maiden. Had a pair of John Gosden horses in front of him that day including a future winner. Rider is 3-5 for the yard in AW races.

Finished clear of the third when touched off at Redcar in October. That was on softer ground than most of his sire's progeny prefer. This surface and longer trip should be ideal. Stable are in excellent form.

From the first crop of Frankel and out a mare who was a daughter of the top class broodmare Hasili (dam of Dansili, Cacique, Banks Hill, Champs Elysees, Intercontinental and Heat Haze). No surprise to see him sent off favourite for his Haydock debut where his inexperience found him out. Sure to do better but doubts exist concerning the trip unless relying on stamina from the dam's side.

Forecasts

Maghfoor (4/5), Fibonacci (2/1), Weekender (5/1), Channel Packet (33/1), Bizet (66/1)

Verdict

Ryan Moore and Hugo Palmer are a combination to fear, particularly on the All-Weather. Fibonacci ran well enough on his debut to suggest he will win races but preference is for MAGHFOOR as his yard have proven their horses to be well forward at this early stage of the campaign. There was nothing wrong with his narrow Redcar defeat on ground which may have been softer than ideal for him and which was run in a good time. His pedigree suggests he will be seen to better effect over this trip and on this surface. Weekender had clearly shown plenty at home prior to his debut when he was very green. Frankel's first crop had reputations for racing keenly and, given he barely saw out this trip himself, it remains to be seen whether his progeny will get this far.
