Interesting on debut for new yard. Has yet to race over a trip this far and in the past he has raced keenly. Off the track following a string of tame performances in 2015. Doubts surrounding his wellbeing and stamina make him hard to recommend. Still worth a check in the market in a race lacking depth.
Won a maiden here two years ago for Charlie Appleby and then finished last on his next two starts. Form has been patchy of late both over hurdles and on the Flat. Sire's progeny do well on AW surfaces but he is not an influence for stamina.
Has been in good form at Chelmsford recently but has won here previously. Has twice come up against the in form Aldreth of late and there is nothing of that calibre in this. Handicap mark suggests a career best is needed. The quality of the opposition may mean that is not necessarily the case.
Looks held by Bracken Brae on running at Chelmsford last time. Tongue-tie and cheekpieces are removed here. Was a wide margin winner at Southwell last year and the handicapper has been slow to forgive that performance.
Competed in much better company than this last season without troubling the judge. A career record of nine wins from 49 starts means he has to be taken seriously in a race as poor as this. Fitness would have to be taken on trust and his record following a break is poor.
Forecasts
Bracken Brae (4/5), See And Be Seen (9/2), Ruler Of The Nile (5/1), Arabian Oasis (8/1), Deinonychus (10/1)
BRACKEN BRAE looks the straightforward answer to a race where the profiles of her opponents raise serious doubts about their ability to win a race at this time. Her fitness is assured and she has been running to a consistently better level than her rivals have achieved in their recent races. Ruler Of The Nile looks held judged by their recent meeting at Chelmsford. The headgear is removed and he may prove a bigger danger than See and Be Seen. Sylvester Kirk's charge failed to add to his career haul of nine victories last term. He starts the current campaign on an attractive mark but he may need the run. Deinonychus represents a capable trainer and a market move for him would be significant.
