Makes her hurdles debut here after being bought cheaply in November. Modest maiden on the flat and expected to be outclassed here.

Athy River62

9/1
Makes her hurdles debut after showing some modest form in bumpers with her best effort coming at this course in October when she was third. Stable are having a fine year and not ruled out in this grade.
3
Horse silk
20/1
Has shown only poor form so far in a bumper and a couple of novice hurdles. Future probably lies in low grade handicaps once she has a mark.
4
Horse silk
3/1
Finished second in her only start under Rules so far at Exeter beaten 7L by an odds-on favourite who has won again since. Showed ability on that occasion and a repeat of that run will see her go close here.

Mac Bella53
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Conor Ring(3)| T: Evan Williams
33/1
Seen just once so far when finishing down the field in a Huntingdon bumper in February. Makes her hurdles debut here and although the stable have a good record at the track they have been off colour of late.

Has started at a big price in two novice hurdles both over slightly further than the trip she tackles here. Would need to step up considerably on both those efforts to be of interest here.

Two starts over hurdles with the second at least showing a little promise when fourth at Ffos Las. Would have to build on that to take a hand here and the way she folded so tamely has to be a worry.

Was a useful handicapper on the Flat but has rather spoilt her chances over hurdles by pulling too hard and needs to learn to settle to be effective. Looks to be capable of better and a decent pace would help her settle better although she is not sure to get that here.
Hurdles form has proved a little better than her bumper form and she showed her best form last time out at Chepstow when fourth. Would still need to improve to take a hand here though against some classier types.

Forecasts

Hestina (4/7), Here All Along (3/1), Macca's Stowaway (8/1), Athy River (9/1), Drewmain Legend (20/1), Strangsmill (25/1), Mac Bella (33/1), Maggie's Dawn (50/1), All Dolled Up (100/1)

Verdict

The fact that Hestina can pull very hard and has failed to settle in her races makes her vulnerable here even though this isn’t a deep race and HERE ALL ALONG may well be able to capitalise on her good Exeter debut run. Athy River and Macca’s Stowaway have shown some ability and at a big price Strangsmill should not be totally written off.
  1. Here All Along
  2. Hestina
  3. Athy River
