Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: B Browne(7)| T: O McKiernan| OR:  95
12/1
Hasn't shown a great deal in three maiden hurdles but the suspicion has lingered that he'd be seen to best effect once going handicapping.
2

Simple Steps67
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-11| J: Phillip Enright| T: R Tyner| OR:  94
12/1
Dual point-to-point winner has yet to score under rules, has been running well over fences this season and could have a fighting chance in this now back over timber.
3
Horse silk
Crehelp29
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: Danny Mullins| T: F J Flood| OR:  91
20/1
Well beaten in two handicap outings over hurdles, latest over this trip at Navan 29 days ago, hard to be confident in his chances as a result.

Rebel Cryp,t52
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-6| J: Jack Kennedy| T: N Lee| OR:  89
14/1
Has twice scored under this rider in the past over fences but is somewhat worrying that he's failed to complete in two starts this year, latest over hurdles at Thurles in February.

The Church Gatet15
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: Robbie Colgan| T: M J Smith| OR:  89
6/1
Denied in agonising fashion last two outings, at 2m and 3m. Up again in the ratings for this intermediate trip but would be worthy of his success on form.

Artic Pearlt1420
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: C Brassil(5)| T: M Brassil| OR:  88

Decent run at Naas over 2m when last spotted but will have to defy an absence of 420 days to open account at fifth time of asking here and may well need the run.
7
Horse silk
Black Kettle16
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: R Loughran| T: Christian Delcros| OR:  88
10/1
Much-improved effort at Down Royal last time out when upped to this sort of trip, can be given claims if able to build on that run.
8

No More Monkeys216
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-5| J: A W Short(7)| T: S J Kenny| OR:  88
20/1
Decent effort in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick in August gives him some prospects here if ready to do himself justice.

Old Time Melodyp,t12
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-4| J: G N Fox| T: T Cooper| OR:  87

Been chasing of late with little joy, falling here and unseating at Clonmel either side of being pulled up at Punchestown. Did win a handicap hurdle at this track over 2m7f off 1lb higher mark in 2015.
10
Horse silk
Phar Island22
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: D J Mullins| T: T Mullins| OR:  85
6/1
Distant second behind in-form rival at Gowran Park over this trip most recently and goes up just 2lb for that so could have similar expectations now.
11
Horse silk
Alices Man122
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: Sean Flanagan| T: Miss E Doyle| OR:  84
14/1
Form in four maiden hurdles was poor and similarly laboured on handicap bow at Thurles over longer trip. Limited hopes for this on evidence shown so far.
12
Horse silk
Dr Zoom10
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: B T O'Connell| T: P Byrne| OR:  83
33/1
Back up in trip but was beaten more than 100L over this distance at Punchestown in February and overall form is not inspiring.
13
Horse silk
Ted Bachp110
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: P F Mangan| T: D Budds| OR:  82
14/1
Solid effort off this mark at Cork over 2m ten days ago, cheekpieces applied now going up in trip and could be destined to have a say in the finish.
14
Horse silk
Bellas Rock157
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-11| J: J M Moore| T: T Gibney| OR:  80
16/1
Failed to register in nine attempts and has now joined this yard from Gordon Elliott, did however run one of his more promising races over this C&D in October.
15
Horse silk
Carrow Queen15
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-11| J: R P Treacy(5)| T: V T O'Brien| OR:  80
25/1
On a long losing run now, wasn't disgraced over 3m at Limerick last month however and drops 2lb for this shorter trip.

Horse silk
Glasson Ladb67
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: M F Mooney| T: Mrs A Mooney| OR:  80
50/1
Running total of 39 starts under rules haven't yielded a victory, first start for this trainer but January run over this C&D leaves him with a lot to find.

Horse silk
Irish Mustard31
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: M P Fogarty| T: P J Colville| OR:  80
10/1
Tailed off on handicap debut at Clonmel early last month. That was over 3m and drops in trip this time but appears to hold forlorn hopes of success.
18
Horse silk
Aa Bee See106
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-8| J: N P Madden| T: N Madden| OR:  88
14/1
Modest Flat winner, goes up significantly in trip for handicap debut over timber having run with moderate promise in three maidens. One to note in the betting.

Forecasts

Artic Pearl (5/2), The Church Gate (6/1), Phar Island (6/1), Irish Mustard (10/1), Black Kettle (10/1), Kristian Goingwel (12/1), Simple Steps (12/1), Aa Bee See (14/1), Rebel Cry (14/1), Ted Bach (14/1), Alices Man (14/1), Old Time Melody (16/1), Bellas Rock (16/1), Crehelp (20/1), No More Monkeys (20/1), Carrow Queen (25/1), Dr Zoom (33/1), Glasson Lad (50/1)

Verdict

Getting weight all round, handicap debutant Aa Bee See shouldn't be underestimated in the McManus silks and any market confidence would be worth noting. There are others with better claims on form however and none more so than THE CHURCH GATE, agonisingly denied in his previous two runs. He is versatile and should go well at this trip and may well claim a deserved success now. Simple Steps is noted coming back over hurdles having run well at times this season over fences while Black Kettle showed much more last time at Down Royal and must be taken very seriously as a result. No More Monkeys and Ted Bach are others worthy of consideration in a wide open finale.
  1. The Church Gate
  2. Black Kettle
  3. Ted Bach
