€65,000 yearling, half-sister to the good quality Tuscan Evening. Other newcomers make more appeal on paper, but not totally discounted by any means.
Good looking pedigree with plenty of stamina but also the necessary speed for a mile. Yard often do well with newcomers and a big run can be expected on her first racecourse appearance.
Has shown little ability on two racecourse appearances so far, over a mile at Leopardstown then over 7f at Dundalk. Wears a hood for the first time but would still be a very surprising winner.
Beaten a fair way in some mediocre-looking maidens on three occasions so far, and should find herself pitched in too deep here, despite having more experience than most of her rivals.
Well beaten on debut at Leopardstown on her racecourse debut, finishing ahead of Dangerous Ground but behind Furiosa. Clearly has work to do with some of these on that basis.
Has a relatively pacey pedigree, but there are plenty of milers in her family as well. Makes her debut for an all-conquering ownership operation, but is not trained by their first choice handler and expectations look to be moderate at best.
€42,000 yearling who rates an interesting newcomer based on her pedigree. Worth a check in the market in what looks a suitable first assignment.
Showed little when well beaten on racecourse debut at Dundalk in November and would need to take a huge step forward here to get involved.
Improved to finish second on her second start at Gowran Park in October. Is clearly progressive, probably appreciated the extra furlong that day and is totally unexposed. Player here.
€20,000 yearling and a half-sister to three minor winners. Doesn't look to be one of the more likely newcomers on paper.
Mastercraftsman filly with winning form over this trip in her pedigree. Worth a check in the market on debut today.
Forecasts
Mollie The Moo (11/4), Dabulena (3/1), Angel Island (10/3), Set In Stone (7/1), Hushing (8/1), Furiosa (8/1), Lace Bonnet (20/1), Susan (33/1), The Lady Tam (50/1), Run For The Roses (66/1), Dangerous Ground (66/1)
It is difficult to recommend a horse with any great confidence in a race where most of them haven't yet seen a racecourse. However, the one who makes the most appeal here is SET IN STONE. She improved plenty to finish second on her second start at Gowran in October and she should go close if taking another step up. The relatively expensive Angel Island and Dabulena , who goes for some top connections, look the best of the newcomers.
- Set In Stone
- Angel Island
- Dabulena
