Cheap purchase in the yearling's sale and likely to be up against it on debut for a trainer better known for his runners in the National Hunt game.

Cost €18,000 at the sales in September and trainer/jockey have won this twice in the last ten years. Bred for speed and related to winners so plenty to like.
Yards recruits tend to do better with racing and this gelding will probably want further with time.

Likely to want further than this and trainer has just a 3.62% stirke rate with his horses over a 5f trip.
Relatively cheap purchase and looks to have more stamina in his pedigree than speed. Jockey an interesting booking though and he has a good strike-rate of 16.22% over the 5f here.

Yard do better with their older horses and he's another one who would be better suited to a stronger test of stamina, so probably best watched.
Cheap purchase (£3,000) but related to a moderate winner and jockey's 3lb claim will help as he's good value for it. Drawn on the wing not ideal though.

Already gelded but is related to some winners including Rocco's Delight who has run to a fair level over 7f. Stronger claims than some in here but trainer and jockey both running at below 4% over this C&D.

Plenty of speed in his pedigree and jockey rides this course well so has stronger than some in here but yard's horse not been running particularly well recently (from a limited number of runners) and he was a late foal.

Trainer does well with his sprinters and he has a respectable record with his juveniles so plenty to like about this colt's chances who cost €37,000 as a foal before being sold for £12,000 as a yearling.

Cost €24,000 at the sales in September but stamina looks more his bag and could well struggle in this frantic test of speed.

Forecasts

Almane (2/1), Rocket Man Dan (5/2), Santry (4/1), Last Page (13/2), Billiebrookedit (20/1), Primo's Comet (20/1), Dragon's Teeth (22/1), Furni Factors (25/1), Benadalid (50/1), Autumn Lodge (50/1), Afterthisone (50/1)

Verdict

Hard to get away from the claims of Richard Fahey's colt, ALMANE. The trainer boasts a strong record in this race and he cost enough in the sales to suggest there will be some ability there. Rocket Man Dan may prove to be the value in opposition and his trainer his capable of readying one for his debut while Primo's Comet has plenty of speed in his pedigree and may prove best of the rest.
  1. Almane
  2. Rocket Man Dan
  3. Primo's Comet
