Related to dirt winners in the USA but showed very little on debut at Wolverhampton last November. Should know more this time around but is a likely type to find his level once in handicap company.

Recently swapped hands for €200,000, he ran as if in need of the experience when he failed to justify odds of 4/9 at Lingfield earlier this month. Likely to be sharper for the run and, as he is reunited with a bang-in-form jockey, he can be expected to be a lot wiser this time around. Big chance in a modest event.

Cost 180,000 gns and is a half-brother to 7f and 10f winners; his dam won over 1m4f, so possible he may do better over slightly further in due course. Looks the stable's second string this time around even though the jockey's 3lb claim may come in handy.
Was badly in need of the experience on debut and never landed a telling blow as a result. He is a nicely-bred type, though, and is related to several high-class performers. In the right hands to develop once he has a handicap mark and might still need a little more time. Certainly appears to be the yard's second string on this occasion.
Cost $450,000, his dam won a Group 3 in France and a conditions stakes over an extended 9f on the AW at Kempton, so has plenty going for him in terms of pedigree. Represents a top yard and connections, so has to be respected accordingly, even though this a quite start to the new season by the Stoute team's standards.

Has experience on his side and sets what standard there is currently. But the fact his connections are resorting to using a hood at this early stage is disconcerting. This step up in trip may help but, being out of a Nayef mare, it is reasonable to expect him to at least cope with the demands of middle distances in time.

Done little wrong in his last couple of starts and may simply have come up against a couple of decent handicappers in the making. He is improving with each run and shouldn't be underestimated. One to monitor closely

Related to several winners over a mile and is bred to appreciate the surface. Others have more glamours profiles and has to be a worry that he sports a hood for his racecourse debut. Probably best watched

Forecasts

Bless Him (9/4), Bahar (9/4), Highland Cradle (5/1), Mudaarab (6/1), Trenchard (8/1), Redgrave (10/1), So Happy (10/1), Free Forum (25/1), Zoffany Bay (50/1)

Verdict

The benefit of experience can help BLESS HIM to get into his stride a little quicker this evening and he can make this a good test for the rest. Mudaarab is the obvious threat in terms of purchase price ($450,000) and potential on breeding. He certainly looks the favoured option of Sir Michael Stoute's duo; but may not represent great value at the predicted cramped odds. Others for the notebook include: Trenchard, who has fared well in defeat on a couple of occasions and can find a race before too long, while So Happy comes a long way to make his racecourse bow and is noted as one of only two horses sent down from North Yorkshire by Mark Johnson
  1. Bless Him
  2. Mudaarab
  3. Trenchard
