Won a maiden hurdle at Ayr in October (2m, good to soft) and put in a decent effort when handicapping for the first time at Market Rasen last month, staying on well to claim second. Switches back to a novices' contest today and looks capable of going close.

Rated 100+ on the Flat a couple of years ago, but in decline in that sphere since then although retains some ability, as evidenced by his run at Doncaster in a novices' hurdle last time. Should be thereabouts.

Half-brother to one who was placed both in bumpers and a 2m hurdle. Grandam also won both a bumper and a 2m hurdle, however this gelding did not sparkle on debut at Newcastle earlier in the month when tailed off and pulled up.

Won a 1m Pontefract handicap from a mark of 74 last spring and ran well in defeat a couple of times from higher marks after that. Dam was a 6f Group winner and he is by a Derby winner, so this trip should be within range, though needs to do a lot better than on his Sedgefield hurdles debut.

Landed a Warwick bumper on debut for Nigel Twiston-Davies in 2014 but has failed to add to that with current yard, being runner-up three times including in maiden company last time. That was a step back in the right direction and he should be thereabouts.

Listed winner in Ireland on the Flat as a juvenile but has clearly had problems and only seen the racecourse four times since. Nothing on interest from him recently and looks best watched at present.
Didn't last long with either Saeed bin Suroor or John Ferguson and has not shown much yet for his current yard. Should be of more interest after this when the handicapper gives him a mark to work from.

Forecasts

King's Tempest (11/8), Master Of Finance (15/8), Quids In (9/4), Blue Hussar (7/2), Parish Boy (33/1), Skywards Reward (33/1), Freewheel (40/1), Crocodile Dancer (250/1)

Verdict

Master Of Finance looks booked for another good run, although conceding weight all around due to his penalty will not be easy, while Blue Hussar and Quids In should both be able to make an impact. Preference, however, is for KING'S TEMPEST, who has taken some time to come back to form, but did so last time and he might just have what it takes today.
  1. King's Tempest
  2. Master Of Finance
  3. Quids In
