Hasn't achieved much of note on either of his starts over hurdles, both of which have come over this sort of trip on testing ground. Bred to stay but raced far too keenly last time at Ayr and needs to settle better today.

Off the track since August 2015 when racing for Sandra Hughes in Ireland. Cost new connections just £3,500 in September 2015, and makes only his second ever start over hurdles wearing the first time hood. Absence a concern for stable debut.

Off the mark at the second attempt in a soft ground bumper at Sedgefield in November 2015, and went novice hurdling late last season. His sole start over hurdles came over this C&D in March 2016 when a 1¾L runner up to Kid Valentine. Key player on that evidence, but off since and absence to overcome.
Zero from three in Irish Point-to-Points, but improved markedly on stable bumper debut when going down by 2½L to Culmination in a 2m maiden hurdle at Ayr recently. Likely to go very close if hurdling with a shade more fluency.

Flat and hurdles maiden who looked a tricky conveyance at Fakenham just under a fortnight ago. Needs to take a massive step forward to take a hand on his fifth start over hurdles.

Verdict

Storm Forecast brings a fair level of C&D form into this moderate novices hurdle, but he's been off the track since March 2016, and missed a planned run at Sedgefield last month, so his fitness is taken on trust. Similar comments apply to ex Irish pointer Fire and Smoke, who was bred by his trainers late father Donald Snr, so he would be a poignant winner for a yard which introduced the talented Lastbutnotleast to hurdles at this track in December 2016. However, with fitness assured, WELL ABOVE PAR gets the nod to build upon a decent enough opening hurdles effort at Ayr earlier this month.
