Has first run since moving from Luca Cumani for 16,000 guineas. Pedigree and previous trainer would suggest this trip is on the sharp side for handicap debut.

Winner of three races at Southwell this winter but has proven his effectiveness on this surface. Admirably consistent performer who likes to be played late. No reason why he cannot produce another solid effort.

Tongue-tie and visor combination have worked well to produce two C&D victories in the past few weeks. A 3lb rise gives an excellent chance of adding to that tally.

Admirable eight-year-old shows no signs of ageing having produced five excellent runs in the past month. Ran well under a penalty on Monday and is effectively 3lb lower in the weights. Goes for his seventh win this winter and even a poor draw may not be enough to stop him. Needs to be delivered late and goes well for this rider.

Winner of 12 races from 106 starts including two over C&D. Difficult to place nowadays but should find this easier than the two claimers contested this year.

Has generally been campaigned over 5f previously. Has contested a Group Three and has won off a higher mark. Only third run for new yard following a layoff and the market will be a useful guide. Takes a big drop in class following a stiff task last week.

Has first run of the season off a career low mark. Generally needs a run or two before getting into shape but one to watch off this mark in the near future.

Forecasts

Call Out Loud (11/4), Custard The Dragon (7/2), Rockley Point (4/1), Athassel (5/1), Faintly (12/1), Mister Musicmaster (12/1), Mr Christopher (12/1), Corporal Maddox (14/1), Rock'n Gold (22/1), Gramercy (33/1), Dr Doro (40/1)

Verdict

ATHASSEL, Call Out Loud and Custard The Dragon all arrive at the top of their game. Their may be better handicapped rivals in this contest, notably Mr Musicmaster, Dr Doro and Mr Christopher, but they are likely to need the run. Preference is for ATHASSEL who runs this track well and has won for tonight's young rider. Another bold effort on Monday confirms his wellbeing and he races off a 3lb lower mark here. A draw in stall 11 is not a hindrance as he needs to be dropped in behind and delivered late. Custard The Dragon has to be ridden in similar fashion but a draw in stall one leaves him requiring gaps up the inside rail. His chances will depend on navigating a way through. Call Out Loud may get an easy lead up front. This is tougher than his last two assignments but the handicapper has given him a chance and the track clearly suits.
