Won three times on the Flat in Germany and France at up to 1m1f on sound surfaces, though went well on heavy ground at Pontefract over 1m2f when with Micky Hammond last year. Didn't look a natural over hurdles for this yard but feasiblly handicapped back on the Flat and interesting runner provided he takes to the AW (well suited on pedigree).

Made a promising start over hurdles and has run well over this C&D, finishing a close second in a handicap to Van Huysen last year. Flat mark looks a little lenient on the back of some of his hurdles efforts and he looks like a player in this line up despite his jockey only being one from 34 at the track.

Highly progressive last year but signs the handicapper has caught up with her now. She will need to have improved a little for the break but the booking of this jockey is a positive and it may have freshened her up. Each-way player.

Ran well in a Group 3 in a former life in Ireland but not up to anything like that level in recent times and not recorded a win since 2014. Losing run now stands at 21 but he's been shaping like a winner in waiting on last couple of starts and every chance if he's positioned better this time from a nice draw.

Has run well on the AW in 2015 but very disappointing last season, finishing last on his final two starts. May well need this after a significant absence but any market move should be noted.

Has won four on turf but yet to open AW account in 15 attempts. Hard to say he's well-handicapped and looks up against some progressive rivals so opposable on this occasion.

Unreliable type and doesn't look the most straightforward. First-time hood will need to help him settle but jockey is worth his 7lb claim so not one to dismiss out of hand.

Forecasts

Taper Tantrum (15/8), Intensical (7/2), Inke (9/2), Celebration Day (7/1), Bluff Crag (8/1), Ravenhoe (8/1), Invictus (25/1)

Verdict

TAPER TANTRUM has run well over C&D in the past and he returns here after a relatively successful stint over hurdles. He's well-handicapped on the best of that form and he has fewer question marks over him than plenty of these. Intensical looks ready to score off this kind of mark after two respectable recent efforts here while Inke looked progressive last year and may be able to resume that upward curve provided her winter break has done her good.
  1. Taper Tantrum
  2. Intensical
  3. Inke
