Easy winner of a Gowran Park maiden hurdle (2m4f, good) in June and not seen since putting up a solid effort in a handicap from a mark of 116 next time. The handicapper says that there was no improvement there, but given her good record when fresh she could be in the mix for some money again here.

Won a couple of bumpers two years ago and was then off the track for 20 months. Has had three starts since coming back, finally breaking her duck at Clonmel in maiden company last time. The step up to this trip looks a positive and she is at home on the forecast ground, so she looks very much one for the short list.
Gold Cup winning trainer-jockey combination and this Navan bumper winner has been improving for being stepped up to staying trips. Best effort came last time at Thurles (2m7f, soft/heavy) when 4L second and she should again be competitive here.

Has has her problems, with two lengthy lay-offs, but she has come back well this time and won a 2m Navan maiden hurdle with some authority two starts ago, despite some less than fluent jumping. Failed to cut the mustard in Listed company last time, which does not augur well for this.

9/4
Punchestown maiden hurdle winner last month (2m6f, heavy) and stepped up on that when runner-up in a Fairyhouse handicap off 119 last time. That form looks strong in context and is the yardstick for this contest.

Point-to-point winner in October (yielding) and has put in some reasonable efforts in defeat so far over hurdles, though on one or two form lines here she clearly has too much on her plate.

12/1
Fairyhouse maiden hurdle winner in January (2m4f, yld/soft), though well beaten when dropped in trip and tried in Grade Three company last time. Conditions no problem, ut clearly needs to improve again to be winning this.

7/1
Bumper winner at Tramore in December who has progressed in three starts over hurdles since then to win last time out at Thurles in maiden company (2m7f, soft/heavy). That run promised more to come and cheekpieces might help to eek that out again today.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-13| J: Jack Kennedy| T: G Elliott| OR:  102
33/1
0-8 under rules and none of her form this season gives her much hope here, despite her yard's outstanding week at Cheltenham.

Forecasts

Kate Appleby Shoes (6/4), The Green Lady (9/4), Ask Susan (7/1), Magic Of Light (8/1), West Bridge (12/1), Miss Mardan (14/1), Danali (25/1), Pahaska (33/1), The Kings Baby (33/1)

Verdict

The Green Lady has probably achieved the most of these going into this and win for her would neither surprise nor be undeserved, while Ask Susan is also going very much the right way and she too is likely to trouble the judge. However, KATE APPLEBY SHOES got off the mark over hurdles last time and connections can be further rewarded for their patience by earning some winning black type now that she is stepped up to this trip.
  1. Kate Appleby Shoes
  2. The Green Lady
  3. Ask Susan
