Ascot bumper winner who scored there on his second attempt over hurdles (2m, soft) in October and was only beaten 3L behind Messire Des Obeaux in a Grade 2 event over this sort of trip at Sandown. A Grade 1 proved too much latest (ran a moody race) but easily sets the standard..

6/1
Smart French Flat performer who made a winning hurdles debut at Fakenham despite looking none too convincing. Beaten out of sight in a Grade 2 event at Cheltenham (2m5f, good) next time and has something to prove after a break with blinkers reintroduced (usually worn on the Flat).

Placed in a point-to-point and third in a six-runner Ascot bumper prior to making a hurdles debut there in November where he never got competitive. Surely capable of better as a tongue tie is reached for, though arguably not a betting proposition for now.
Point-to-point winner who created a very favourable impression scoring in good style in a Southwell bumper on his debut back in October 2014. Long subsequent absence obviously suggests problems since but positive market vibes for his reappearance would be very interesting.

Only flickers of promise in a Warwick bumper first time out and didn't provide any short-term encouragement when pulling up behind Louis' Vac Pouch at Southwell on his hurdling debut. Better ground may help but still best watched.

Limited promise in bumpers but made an inauspicious start to his hurdling career at Fontwell on Boxing Day. Took a step forward at 200/1 odds when finishing a 17L third behind Casper King there (2m1f, soft) next time but this looks out of reach.

Not unfancied for his debut in a Plumpton bumper but failed to live up to expectations, then cut little ice when a well beaten fifth behind Captain Buck's on his hurdles debut over C&D (good to soft) last month. Evidently one of the yard's lesser lights.
Signs of promise without ever looking winning in bumpers last season but was soundly beaten when unfancied for his hurdles debut at Warwick (2m5f, good to soft) in a race won by Cheltenham hero Willoughby Court. Opposable in the short-term.
Looked a smart prospect when winning a Wincanton bumper in testing conditions on his debut in January '15 but underwhelming in just two starts over hurdles since. Too early to be writing him off but probably best watched today after 14 months on the sidelines.
Had four runs in bumpers, managing a win over 2m2f (good) at Fontwell. Shaped well at the same venue when staying on to finish a close-up fourth on her hurdles debut 11 months ago and clearly has a future, though this may prove too much on her return.

Forecasts

Cultivator (4/7), Pilansberg (6/1), Milzipa (15/2), Jennifer Eccles (8/1), See The World (10/1), Just Before Dawn (12/1), Mr Fenton (33/1), Doolin (40/1), Mab Dab (66/1), Just For William (66/1)

Verdict

CULTIVATOR didn't excel himself with a moody display in a Grade 1 event at Sandown last time so he arrives here with something to prove but he easily sets the standard on earlier form and could prove a cut above unless the reintroduction of blinkers have a galvanising effect on Pilansberg. Just Before Dawn would be of interest if the market vibes are positive.
  1. Cultivator
  2. Pilansberg
  3. Just Before Dawn
