Yet to show too much in two starts over flights, beaten best part of 50L at Gowran recently. Cheekpieces on today, could improve.

Underwhelming effort in sole point-to-point in November, first appearance under rules now and hard to see a winning start.

Well beaten on racecourse bow at Leopardstown earlier this month, should be fitter for that run but needs a fair chunk of improvement.
Fell in a maiden at Navan last month over two-miles, form previously in pair of bumpers didn't suggest he'd have played a leading role if standing up.

Coming back from two years on the sidelines, he has struggled in two recent spins over hurdles. Best watched until there are some signs of encouragement.

Better effort last time at Leopardstown, though that was over 2m4f, drops in trip again for this and requires another fair leap forward to strike a blow.

Form in four starts over timber is dismal, latest in September at Navan when completely tailed off at the back of a 30-runner field. First outing since.

Some promise shown in three starts over flights, certainly not without hope but must iron out the mistakes over the obstacles to get competitive.
Latest effort over two-miles at Fairyhouse early last month when fourth of 25 was another step in the right direction and may be as good as any of this field have managed to date.
Beat around 18L over this C&D in January on stable debut after two years off. Lightly raced nine-year-old might have more to offer.

Beaten a fair distance in both maiden hurdle runs so far, latest at Thurles in January. Shrewd trainer, not entirely written off but might be one for handicaps.

Has gone close in bumpers, just one previous run over flights saw him beaten 40L at this track in August over 2m4f.

Debut at Punchestown last month in similar maiden hurdle contest, always in rear and beaten over 100L, doesn't appeal here.

Mare was 100/1 and well beaten on hurdles bow at Navan in December. This is not as tough a race but still requires fair improvement to get involved.
Didn't show much promise in four point-to-point runs and similar tale in two hurdles outings at Clonmel, gives her plenty to find.

Forecasts

Jack Dillinger (9/10), Geneva Barracks (11/4), Triolet (10/1), Colwinston (14/1), Rossmore's Pride (16/1), Swordfight (16/1), Seaweed (20/1), Littlestickarubarb (33/1), Ballyhowne (33/1), Artical Eleven (33/1), Cappacon (33/1), Howluckycanwebe (50/1), Artic Milan (50/1), Don't Let Go (50/1), General Gold (66/1)

Verdict

This is anything but a strong contest to begin proceedings. Jack Dillinger probably sets the standard on his Fairyhouse run last month, which was another step in the right direction and it may not require much more to take this prize. Geneva Barracks is another that has displayed some potential and his jumping was a bit better latest on third start over flights, he too should have a say. Colwinston put up an improved showing at Leopardstown recently, making him one for the shortlist but a speculative vote goes to ROSSMORE'S PRIDE. He weakened here over this trip on his stable debut but that was off a two-year layoff. He had shown some promise at Wetherby on his only jumps run in Britain and, while he is clearly not without risks, might be up to winning a contest like this.
  1. Rossmore's Pride
  2. Jack Dillinger
  3. Geneva Barracks
