Won a 2m Chester handicap from 2lb higher in August 2015 but after a lengthy absence she has failed to sparkle in two recent runs at Wolverhampton, including being pulled up and dismounted last time. Seems best watched at present.
Former Peter Makin and Richard Hughes-trained inmate who won on debut for her current yard at Wolverhampton last month (1m4f) from 5lb lower. Well beaten on two subsequent starts and she has the look of one whose ceiling winning rating is below today's.
Last victory was in a Lingfield claimer (1m5f) in January, though her last two handicap wins were from marks of 74 and 75, so she is back on an attractive mark if you take that literally. However, she has been beaten regularly from lower pitches since then, so the percentage call is to take her on again.
A mare who has made steady progress in recent seasons, rising from a mark of 55 to today's, which is a career high 72. Scored here over 2m last time but has already won over C&D this season and she looks to have a better chance than most. Consistent.
Broke her maiden at Lingfield last time (ninth attempt) over 1m4f and now steps into a handicap for the first time. Should see out this extra furlong and is used to producing a similar level of form time after time, so may be capable of making an impact.
Last two handicap wins have been from marks of 66 and today's 69, and she is consistently able to reproduce similar efforts at this sort of level. Stamina proven and should once again be in the mix.
Carries a penalty today after a ready success at Lingfield (1m4f) last time when the market spoke for her. Has yet to prove that she stays this extra furlong, but she wasn't stopping at the Surrey venue and she should again give a very good account.
Has slipped back to the same mark as her sole success, which was at Wolverhampton (1m½f) in October. Has marked step up in trip to contend with today and pedigree doesn't scream out that she will handle it so perhaps best watched.
Forecasts
Bracken Brae (9/4), Casablanca (3/1), Mystikana (5/1), Oratorio's Joy (5/1), Heart Locket (7/1), Rowlestone Lass (16/1), Gold Return (20/1), Fast Play (20/1)
BRACKEN BRAE has been very consistent and that can be to her advantage here. She is proven both over C&D and further, so she will be sticking on when others cry enough. Heart Locket is another who usually runs her race and should be involved, while Mystikana is also feared.
- Bracken Brae
- Heart Locket
- Mystikana
