Twice a winner on the AW for Michael Bell and advertised his current well-being by making a winning debut for new connections over 1m2f at Newcastle earlier this month, scoring a shade cosily. Should remain on the upgrade but 4lb rise to covercome now.
Opened his account at the seventh attempt over this C&D on his final start last year and has returned in good order, finishing a close-up third over 1m3f at Kempton last month. Raised 2lb for that effort but clearly going the right way and a definite player.
Twice a winner over 1m here (most recently off a 1lb lower mark) but lost his way a little prior to regaining the winning habit when enterprisingly-ridden to land a Lingfield claimer over this trip last time out. More needed now but respected.
Gained the last of her four career wins over C&D in October (5lb lower mark) but has found it tougher going since, though she did go close at Lingfield on her penultimate start. Didn't quite race with the same zest there last time out.
Well-placed to win four times from just 17 starts, his most recent - and best - success coming on his first attempt at 1m2f last time out when swooping late to score at Lingfield. Raised 4lb but may still have more to offer over this trip.
Glimpses of promise in two 7f maidens for this yard as a juvenile but struggled in a sole run in Dubai last winter and hasn't been sighted since. Steps up in trip for her handicap debut and the market will provide the best guide.
Forecasts
General Hazard (7/4), Hairdryer (7/4), Music Major (7/2), Russian Reward (6/1), Mercy Me (7/1), Summer Dove (33/1)
There was a lot to like about the way General Hazard made a winning debut for new connections at Newcastle and a 4lb rise may not be enough to anchor him whilst Russian Reward and Music Major also bring winning form to the table and are hard to rule out too. All that said, the progressive HAIRDRYER has produced two solid efforts since opening his account in good style over this C&D and could prove too tough a nut to crack on his return to this venue.
- Hairdryer
- General Hazard
- Music Major
