Opened his account at the second attempt over 6f at Newbury last summer and maintained his form well in stronger company, improving for the step up to 1m on his final start when landing a class 3 handicap. Reappears off a 3lb higher mark and no obvious reason why he shouldn't remain competitive.
Useful form in a busy juvenile campaign, winning twice, and readily made all to win a three-runner affair over 1m at Lingfield in January. Probably ran to the same level when just touched off by Spirit of Sarwan over 7f there last time but will probably appreciate the step back up in trip off the same mark.
Expensive yearling who didn't show much on his debut over C&D but won in good style when well-backed at Newcastle next time. Fancied to win his handicap debut over an extended 1m at Wolverhampton but was touched off by Poetic Force (pair clear). Frankie Dettori's only ride - obvious claims with blinkers introduced.
Opened his account at the second attempt over an extended 1m at Wolverhampton in December and stepped up on that form to finish second behind Tisbutadream at Kempton on his handicap debut. Dropped 1lb, so should again be competitive.
Won twice for John Portman as a juvenile and has proved a revelation for current connections, winning his last three starts to take his AW record to five victories from seven attempts. Edged out Shamrokh at Wolverhampton last time but 1lb worse off now.
Looked in need of the experience when last of five on her debut over 7f but much-improved to make all over 1m in a fillies maiden at Lingfield next time. Should continue to progress but will do well to defy this opening mark in this company.
Forecasts
Mutawatheb (9/4), Shamrokh (5/2), Makaarim (4/1), Poetic Force (6/1), Mailshot (8/1), Dreaming Time (10/1)
The thriving Poetic Force performed heroically to repel the challenge of SHAMROKH in a ding-dong finish between the pair at Wolverhampton last month but, of the duo, it would appear that John Gosden's expensive colt appears to have the most scope for improvement and he can reverse the form in the hands of Frankie Dettori (only ride) with blinkers introduced. Marco Botti's Makaarim has a likeable profile and is also capable of making his presence felt, as are Mutawatheb and Mailshot in what looks a decent contest.
- Shamrokh
- Makaarim
- Mutawatheb
