5lb higher than when scoring over C&D in 2014 (good to soft) and acts on any going with cut in it. Raised his game to win off 123 at Bangor 15 months ago, though struggled in five out of six starts this season and perhaps in need of further assistance from the handicapper.

Not as good as he once was but retains some ability, having won three times in the past nine months, his best recent winning mark being 8lb below today's. Has won on heavy, although best form on better ground. Not ruled out.

Runner-up in a maiden hurdle here in November (2m4½f, soft) and run with credit on a couple of occasions since. Jury out on whether this will work out to be his best trip, though worth another try. Yard in decent form.

2lb lower than his last win (Kelso, 2m6½f, heavy) and has been very competitive in defeat on more than one occasion from higher marks since. Stable going well and latest 1lb drop will help.

Won a Sedgefield chase this time last year from 14lb below this mark but in poor form of late and very hard to enthuse about his chance from out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Another Mattie (5/4), Bourne (3/1), Pads (4/1), Top Billing (9/2), Notonebuttwo (28/1)

Verdict

ANOTHER MATTIE has been showing enough to suggest that he may be capable of getting his nose in front again today, while although he is not the horse he once was, Bourne remains competitive at this level, though may just be a bit high in the handicap to win this. Top Billing is not easy to read and has to lump top weight, while there are doubts over the trip for Pads.
  1. Another Mattie
  2. Bourne
  3. Top Billing
