Half-brother to five winners and has shown a little on both starts. Will qualify for handicaps after this and that is where he will probably make his mark.

€360,000 purchase as a full brother to Tommy Stack's useful juvenile, Diamond Fields, who was successful on the AW at Dundalk. Yard are 12-58 with three-year-olds here and jockey booking raises interest.

Fetched 250,000 gns as a yearling. Full brother to winning juvenile Better Announce and half-brother to four other winners, including the useful pair Amazing Beauty and Humungous. Weak in the market before making little impact on debut but like many from the yard he will improve for the experience.

Half-brother to the yard's Dream Ruler who made a winning debut here three years ago. Yard generally have a modest strike rate here with their three-year-olds (4-44).

€70,000 purchase as a two-year-old who made an eyecatching debut in a Newbury maiden at the back end of last season. The ground was on the soft side that day and his pedigree suggests he could be cut out for an AW career over further. One to note for a yard who are going well.

70,000 guineas purchase for a stable who have had two winners from their last three runners. Wears a hood for debut. Rider 2-6 for yard in past five seasons.
Fetched 95,000 guineas as a yearling out a Listed winning French sprinter. Sire's progeny do well on AW tracks and overall pedigree suggests this trip ought to be right.

Half-sister to five winners. Ran a huge race despite displaying greenness on debut behind runners from some of the big yards. Has to be a contender if that run is an accurate reflection of her ability.

Showed the benefit of a lacklustre debut when acquitting herself much better here next time. That form suggests more is required again from this 7,000 guineas buy.

Hold Sway (7/4), Surrey Hope (7/2), Entangling (4/1), Hajaam (10/1), Zoffany Bay (12/1), Accomplice (14/1), Dragons Voice (20/1), Wonderfillo (20/1), The Raven Master (33/1), Poet's Quest (40/1), Harbour Quay (50/1), Fun Raiser (50/1), King Otto (66/1)

Verdict

HOLD SWAY has a good draw and is not highly tried on his debut. He has the pedigree to do well and his yard do well in these AW maidens. Surrey Hope looks the pick of those with experience having been noted making late progress on his debut last autumn. That run and his pedigree he will need further than this test will offer. Accomplice belied her inexperience and long odds with a good display at Lingfield on her debut. Normal progress from that encouraging start will place her close in this.

  2. Surrey Hope
  3. Accomplice
