Form over hurdles is modest enough but has to be respected going chasing for this trainer.
Acquitted himself well at Leopardstown over Christmas in second chase start, finishing fifth at 25/1. The two that finished just ahead of him have three wins between them since.
Much better effort on third chase start at Thurles a fortnight ago, 6L second to odds-on chance Don't Touch It. Remains hard to trust his jumping for now however.
Attained a decent rating over hurdles without often winning, may be the type to do better now jumping fences.
Chase debut at Tramore over two-miles has left him with plenty to work on at the moment.
Didn't make much impression on Limerick chasing debut at Christmas, since scored in a point-to-point however and might come forward.
Unplaced on eighteen of his 19 starts over hurdles and didn't fare much better in chase debut over longer trip at this course.
Former point-to-point winner hasn't set the world on fire racing under rules and effort in mares' beginners chase last month at this track over 2m5f hasn't inspired a vote of confidence.
Fair way below some of these over hurdles and two outings in this sphere suggest that established order is likely to prevail again now.
Forecasts
Blackmail (13/8), Dicosimo (7/4), Pyromaniac (4/1), Alamein (9/1), Slemish (20/1), Suas Sios (33/1), Routes Choice (40/1), The Drunken Dr (66/1), Rancher Lass (66/1)
There are still enough doubts lingering about the jumping of Dicosimo to warrant taking him in this, albeit his most recent effort at Thurles was a pleasing one. Pyromaniac was consistent over timber without being a prolific winner and is one to look out for now chasing but his stablemate BLACKMAIL gets the nod here. The form of his Leopardstown run over Christmas reads nicely given what those that finished ahead of him have achieved since and he, too, can take a step forward. Alamein may be best of the remainder in what doesn't appear the strongest of contests.
1. Blackmail
2. Dicosimo
3. Pyromaniac
