A point-to-point runner-up who has been tried over both today's trip and 3m in four starts under rules, showing little thus far. Cost £80,000 a couple of years ago and likely that he will be delivering sooner rather than later now switched to handicaps so a market check is advised.
0-15 over hurdles, with all ten career wins being on the level, the last of which was on his penultimate start at Ripon in June (1m4f, good) from a mark of 60. Should be capable enough at this level, especially with his rider's huge claim but has a break to overcome.
Brought to an end a list of hefty defeats with success in a Fontwell handicap two starts ago from a mark of 90. Well beaten following 6lb rise last time, though the soft ground was probably against him. Best form shown on good ground.
Drop back in trip here after his last three starts were at least a quarter of a mile further than this last spring. Yard in good form. Appears to go on any ground and now down to a very workable mark, so market check advised for this comeback run.
Has taken the handicapper four runs to give him a mark and understandably so after being well-beaten in all completed novices' hurdle starts. Time will tell whether this is too stiff a mark and with the stable among the winners the market should be as good a guide as any as to his chance.
Races from the same mark as when runner-up at Doncaster last month (2m, good) and with the stable's jumps runners going much better of late, he could take plenty of beating this time.
Well beaten in all five starts to date, though the handicapper is now giving him more of a chance. Should handle the forecast conditions well enough.
Interesting here after a decent handicap debut at Leicester (2m, heavy) last time and a further 1lb drop. Likely to be thereabouts.
Put up a couple of decent efforts in the context of this race when runner-up in successive handicap hurdles at Fontwell and Uttoxeter in December from a mark 3lb lower than today's. Handicapper asked too much of him last time as a result, but with this drop plus his rider's claim, he could again be involved.
Two of his three Flat wins have been on good to soft, including over 1m4f at Haydock last May. However, he has made the frame just once from 13 attempts over hurdles. Dropped 8lb ahead of this run, however, and really ought to be capable from this mark.
Well beaten in all four starts over hurdles and not sure that she is crying out for this drop back in trip. Best watched for now.
Former Charlie Mann and Sue Smith inmate whose sole win was on heavy going at Sedgefield over three years ago. Recent efforts uninspiring and not hard to overlook.
Beaten a long way on all completed starts and mark has plummeted so low that he is out of the handicap even in this poor contest. Impossible to recommend at present.
Forecasts
Cafe Au Lait (9/4), Calarules (5/1), Minella Suite (11/2), Noble Galileo (17/2), Xhale (9/1), Medal Of Freedom (9/1), Bohernagore (9/1), Gasoline (20/1), Broadway Belle (25/1), Hugh's Secret (28/1), Shalamzar (40/1), Pertuis (40/1), Next Hight (66/1)
CALARULES' recent Doncaster run give him strong enough claims, so he is suggested, though there could be a few runners here who go well at a price. Noble Galileo, Shalamzar and Xhale are others who could pick up some prize money.
1. Calarules
2. Xhale
3. Noble Galileo
