Won twice on turf from a mark of 62 in 2014 and 2015 when conditions were quick and was good enough to be placed here off 64 last March. Handicapper has been easing him for quite some time, though will need to show plenty more than last time to be winning.

Sole success was over 1m in a Southwell claimer last year. Well beaten in all starts since at around that trip, although was suddenly stepped up to 2m at Newcastle last time, with the same outcome. Pedigree suggests that he will not find it much easier over 1m4f.

Career has lent much more towards hurdling, though this is his 17th Flat start of which he has won three, all on fast ground on turf. Trip not a problem and went well enough on this surface over 2m last time, so has claims.

Won C&D handicaps off a 6lb lower mark both last year and again last month and has been a model of consistency over the past few weeks. Put in another good effort at Lingfield recently and from a good draw he is likely to be able to put in another good display.

1-26 career record not inspirational, though has been getting a little bit closer to a second win in recent wins. Nonetheless, he looks likely to need further help from the handicapper to be winning again.

Has been good enough to win a couple of races from marks in the 60s in the past, though his last victory was at Ayr in the summer off just 45. Remains 3lb higher than that today and has a car park draw to overcome, so will take a very good effort to score.

Almost two years since this veteran last got his nose in front and appears to prefer Kempton to any of the other artificial surfaces (0-4 here). Interesting though that his Irish yard has decided to return and with a pilot on board who has won her fair share of these in her time, a market check is advised.

Lightly-raced filly who went close over this trip at Southwell a couple of starts ago from 3lb lower, though she was unable to back that up when returning there as the favourite last time. Has both that and a poor draw to overcome today, though far from ruled out in a weak contest.

Has enjoyed three of her eight career wins over this C&D, one with today's pilot up. Has now dropped to a mark below all three of those successes, so has claims in that respect, especially after a recent pipe-opener.

Going on for five years since this old man last got his nose in front and very difficult to make a case for him on his latest effort, though if he could reproduce his running from Kempton last month he could get involved, particularly if he can make use of his inside pitch.

10lb lower than when scoring over C&D in December 2013, having also won twice since then. Recent efforts have been in and out but he has a chance at the weights if able to produce his current best.

Has raced mid-division or further back in all four starts, which tells us little, much as her handicap debut at Lingfield last time did. Dropped 2lb for that and blinkers replaced by cheek pieces. Should have no problem with this trip on pedigree but the market has to be our best guide.

Forecasts

Frivolous Prince (11/8), Goldmadchen (7/1), Giant Sequoia (15/2), Miss Macchiato (15/2), Sweeping Rock (15/2), Senor George (10/1), Anton Dolin (16/1), Rainford Glory (28/1), Breathless (33/1), Ted's Brother (50/1), Race Time (66/1), Akinspirit (66/1)

Verdict

Not a race to get heavily involved in and GOLDMADCHEN could be the one today. James Given's recent runners have been going well enough and this filly has her best chance for a while from a handicapping perspective. Frivolous Prince has shown enough of late to suggest that he can repeat his running and claim some more prize money, while market checks appear prudent regarding Senor George, Miss Macchiato and Rainford Glory. 1. Goldmadchen 2. Frivolous Prince 3. Miss Macchiato
