Just short of top-level as a novice staying hurdler last term, he clearly has talent but there are reservations over his jumping. Fell on chase debut and mistakes cost him second time out.
Point-to-point winner has generally struggled under rules. Makes first start for new yard on chase debut but has a lot on his plate.
Fairly lightly raced for a 12-year-old, wouldn't match some of these as a hurdler and has been pulled up having raced prominently in two recent starts over fences. Makes little appeal.
Has acquitted himself well enough in four chase starts though did fall most recently over two-miles at this venue, has had a brief respite and should be in the mix again.
Bit disappointing at Cork last month but since chased home talented Yorkhill at Leopardstown and that form gives him solid claims in this field.
Some promise in bumpers last year but yet to build on that in hurdles/chase outings. Need to see some progress before confidence grows.
Long way shy of some of today's rivals over hurdles, makes chase debut and will be a huge surprise if it proves to be a winning effort.
Hasn't really progressed as expected in this sphere after four starts. Regularly travels well but just not able to produce that winning run. No surprise to see him in there pitching again and probably settle for minor money.
Debut over fences at this track over two-miles late last month saw him out of contention quickly and completely tailed off, looks very much up against it.
Plenty more needed based on previous run here over two-miles, finished a long way behind Mall Dini.
Was fancied on chase bow at Limerick in October, ran disappointingly then and similar tale at Punchestown beginning of this month on sole start since, has something to prove now.
Struggling to see it out at this sort of trip so far this season, needs to find plenty more from somewhere to strike a blow against some decent rivals.
Point-to-point winner last March, has shown some glimpses of ability in three maiden hurdle starts and not completely out of it on first start over fences.
Forecasts
Mall Dini (7/4), Bachasson (11/4), General Principle (7/2), Jett (7/2), Fitzhenry (25/1), Positive Approach (33/1), Nine Stiches (40/1), Oscar Lantern (40/1), Lasoscar (50/1), Kalogan (125/1), Flatfoot Boogie (200/1), Mount Oliver (200/1), Chelate (200/1)
The likely principles all have questions of one sort or another over them. Bachasson has plenty of ability but his jumping remains a significant worry and for that reason he is bypassed. Plenty was expected of Mall Dini going chasing this season but he has yet to really show a desire to get his head in front and might settle for places again in this, while General Principle has shown similar traits and also needs to bounce back having hit the deck here previously. JETT finished a close second to Yorkhill last time out and, having pulled well clear of a 148-rated rival in third, he's plenty entitled to win this contest. Of those at bigger prices, connections may expect to see more from Oscar Lantern in due course.
1. Jett
2. Mall Dini
3. General Principle
