Finished third at a big price on his return from a break over a mile at Newcastle last month. Placed in a 1m1f lady amateur riders event under this jockey off this mark at Carlisle in august and every chance he'll run well again in this.

Well held when fifth at Southwell over 1m3f last week and a similar story over shorter at Newcastle the time before. Useful performer on his day and now rated 18lb lower than for his most recent success here two years ago but needs to put a number of poor runs behind him in this.

Ready winner over a mile at Chelmsford a week ago when apprentice ridden and turned out quickly off the same mark here. Tries this trip for the first time since may 2015 but appears to have every chance with a leading amateur booked to ride.

Beaten just a head in a seller here last time out but had been well held in two handicap starts (including here) in his two outings prior to that including under this rider and others have more obvious claims.

Beaten less than a length when fourth to Black Dave in a seller at Wolverhampton last time out but disappointing in two starts prior to that and didn't appear to stay this trip when trying it two months ago. Promising amateur rider has her first ride on the Flat here.

Finished third over extended 1m3f on his most recent flat outing at Bath in october and placed on turf here prior to that. Has won over hurdles at Musselburgh since but disappointed in first time cheekpieces (retained) at Fakenham subsequently and has an experienced amateur in the saddle here.

Successful in a claimer at Windsor in june last year but disappointing in five starts for this yard, including under today's rider four times and likely best watched at present.

Winner at Bath off a 5lb lower mark last summer and not beaten far at Wolverhampton on penultimate outing. Disappointing over 1m4f subsequently but interesting if reproducing that Wolverhampton effort.

Winner of his penultimate outing at Wolverhampton last month but well held here subsequently. Step back up to 1m2f looks likely to suit having been placed over further in the past and but likely vulnerable off his revised mark.

Forecasts

Starboard (8/15), Ansaab (8/1), Black Dave (12/1), Warfare (12/1), Zephyros (14/1), Nonchalant (14/1), Taurian (16/1), Gaelic Silver (20/1), Genuine Approval (20/1), With Pleasure (25/1), Turnbury (33/1), My Lord (66/1)

Verdict

With what looks likely to be a strong pace on in this concluding lady amateur riders event it may pay to side with horses likely to be held up, as such STARBOAD can follow up his recent success at Chelmsford by taking this. The selection was a Group 3 winner over this trip in his youth and while he his most recent victories have come over shorter he races here off the same mark as for his Chelmsford success and has a top jockey in this sphere in the saddle. The top weight Warfare placed in a similar event to this on turf in the summer and can fill the runners-up spot while another likely hold up contender is Zephyros who can put a disappointing effort last time out behind him by taking third. 1. Starboard 2. Warfare 3. Zephyros
