Holds entries in Grade Ones, the Supreme Novices' and Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdles, at the Cheltenham Festival, with the latter appearing a more likely target, especially if he comes up with another convincing win here to add to those at Bangor, Sandown and most recently in Newbury's Grade One Challow Hurdle. Very exciting prospect who will be tough to beat here despite the penalty.
Never out of the first two in six career starts, winning two of them including when odds-on at Taunton last month (2m 3f, good). Clearly going the right way but bumps into one or two slightly further up the pecking order in this.
Hard to knock him for winning by ten lengths on debut at Fontwell (2m 3f, soft), though this is a much tougher contest on paper and he will need to improve quite a lot more to be up to winning it.
Scored a shock 50/1 win over 2m here in November in maiden company and the form of that race looks no great shakes, so likely to be up against it this time.
Won a bumper for Ron O'Leary and has scored in each of his last two hurdles starts for current trainer, both over 2m 3.5f on soft ground. Runner-up in the second of those won well at Wetherby on Saturday, so every chance that there is more to come from this son of Westerner.
Unable to get his nose in front yet but went close in a Warwick maiden hurdle last time (2m 5f, good to soft) to a horse who has since gone on to win a Grade Two. Again likely to be heavily involved.
Forecasts
Messire Des Obeaux (10/11), Bags Groove (4/1), Keeper Hill (9/2), Tommy Rapper (7/1), Benatar (16/1), Finula (150/1)
One of the more interesting novices' hurdles at the track this season, with lots of winning form and the best of it comes from MESSIRE DES OBEAUX, who can concede weight to all and head to Cheltenham in prime form. Bags Groove, Keeper Hill and Tommy Rapper also looks to be heading in the right direction and can battle for the minor money.
1. Messire Des Obeaux
2. Keeper Hill
3. Tommy Rapper
