5lb higher than his most recent success, which was in a 2m 5f Kempton handicap hurdle last May (good). Showed improvement from first chasing start to when runner-up at Leicester over 2m 6.5f (good) last month and every chance that he can progress further today. Likely to be involved.

Put together back-to-back hurdling wins this time last year and added another from a mark of 115 at Stratford in May. Beaten all starts since and remains 6lb higher than that last win on this, his first start over fences since a hunter chase a couple of years ago. Others preferred.

Sole success was in a Catterick novices' hurdle last year and the handicapper has been in control in three subsequent starts over fences. Has now slipped to what looks a more attractive mark and very interesting with first-time cheek pieces and the champion up.

Quiet and out of form since winning his first two hurdles for this trainer a couple of years ago. Flickers of encouragement, no more than that, in his three runs over this winter and it would be a surprise if he is quite up to this today.

Won both a bumper and a C&D handicap hurdle (good to soft), though has struggled in both starts over fences this season. Should appreciate the forecast conditions, though we need to see more before we get involved from a punting perspective.

Showed steady improvement over hurdles to run second at Bangor last month and now switches to chasing. Should not mind either the trip or the likely going and interesting to see how he fares.

Came good at the ninth time of asking under rules when landing a Bangor handicap hurdle last month. Immediate switch to this sphere almost saw him follow-up at Lingfield a week later (2m 4f, heavy), where he was just touched off. Nonetheless that was very encouraging and with the stable having winners he could well build on that today.

Was contesting his 29th chase when finally breaking his duck in this sphere over C&D in December and proved that was no flash in the pan when coming back and repeating the dose from 4lb higher last month. However, since raised a further 8lb and his goose looks cooked for now judged on his hefty Uttoxeter defeat from this mark last time.

Forecasts

Petite Power (13/8), Shanroe Santos (11/2), Go West Young Man (6/1), Zerachiel (7/1), Bronco Billy (9/1), Ganbei (9/1), Royal Milan (12/1), The Jugopolist (22/1)

Verdict

PETITE POWER made a very promising chasing debut at Lingfield last month, should not mind this extra half mile and can step up on that form to break his chasing duck. Royal Milan could be a big danger in first time headgear now that he has slid in the weights, while Zerachiel is another who could go well on his chasing introduction. 1. Petite Power 2. Royal Milan 3. Zerachiel
