Has his first run since late September, when finishing last of nine in a Class 2 Haydock 1m handicap. Unexposed on synthetics (0 from 1), but one of his two turf wins came at this track on grass in September 2015 (very similar contours to this Tapeta surface).
Tapeta winner over 7f at Wolverhampton in January 2016, and was having her first run since June 2016 when a fair third to Gossiping over this trip on the Lingfield Polytrack late last month. Not blindingly well treated from a mark of 80, but one of the likelier contenders.
Goes well at this track, and upped 4lb for a three quarters of a length success over C&D from Rock Warbler late last month. Again partnered by Callum Rodriguez and should run another solid race in his usual cheek-pieces.
Has win and placed form on the Southwell Fibresand, with limited evidence (two runs) implying that she might not be as effective on Tapeta. Another who doesn't appear to have much in hand of her official rating of 77.
Stayed on well over 1m2f at Lingfield in January 2016 when taking a maiden on his fourth career start (previously a runner up on only other AW start on Tapeta at Wolverhampton). Can only be described as disappointing in three starts in handicaps on turf during 2016 (up to 1m4f), often racing too keenly, and drops back in trip for third AW career start following a five and a half month absence.
Remains an AW maiden after 12 career starts (four time winner on turf), but did finish second on Tapeta over Wolverhampton's extended nine furlongs on his penultimate start, but could find front running tactics tough at this track despite the drop in trip.
Ran well over C&D when third to Eastern Dragon in October 2016 (beaten three and a half lengths), and meets that rival on much better terms today. However, has been out of form in three runs since over C&D, with his most recent (last of twelve) by far the worst. Returns from a short break which may have been much needed, and sole win (Redcar, June 2016) came from just a 1lb lower mark.
C&D winner (claimer) who has struggled in handicap company here on his last four starts. Now aged 12, is likely to toil again.
Forecasts
Mariee (5/2), Eastern Dragon (3/1), Worlds His Oyster (5/1), King of Dreams (5/1), Weather Front (7/1), Ravenhoe (12/1), Dusky Dawn (25/1), Kiwi Bay (33/1)
Luke Morris is an eye-catching booking for Weather Front, who is weighted to get the better of Eastern Dragon on their October 2016 C&D clash, but has been badly out of form since. King of Dreams is noteworthy dropping back to this trip with proven form on artificial surfaces, but needs to settle better over this straight mile, so the vote goes to the top-weighted WORLDS HIS OYSTER who has competed in better races than this one on turf, and with a few questions to answer off a break is worth chancing being relatively unexposed on the AW and hailing from a stable in decent form.
1. Worlds His Oyster
2. Weather Front
3. Eastern Dragon
