Formerly with Ed Dunlop and picked up for 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in July 2016. Remains a maiden with his best run for this trainer coming when second to Playful Dude over 1m at Southwell early last month. Not as effective in two starts at this trip.

Has been tried over a variety of trips on the AW since November; running well here in that month over 1m4f when fourth to Go George Go. This trip is likely to suit better and far from discounted off a mark of 55 in a poor race.

12/1
Eight time AW winner from 58 starts who was successful over nine furlongs on his penultimate start at Wolverhampton from a 3lb lower mark. Probably not as effective at this longer trip and beaten on all eight starts at Newcastle (on Tapeta).

Previously with Tracy Waggott (fair record at this course on turf) and more latterly with George Charlton. Makes his debut for Garry Moss from a declining mark, having raced at this track lately over further (1m4f).

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: Ben Robinson(3)| T: N Bycroft| OR:  50
11/1
Maiden after 11 starts with Michael Dods who makes his AW and stable debut for Neville Bycroft after being sold for 10,000 Guineas in October 2016. Raced mainly over shorter trips during the latter part of 2016 and a beaten fifth to former stablemate Reinforced on his last start at Ayr in October (7f, Soft).

Highway Robber30
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: Hollie Doyle| T: W Storey| OR:  50
9/2
Two length runner up to Spirit Of The Vale (Lord Rob third) over C&D in a similar (Class 7) Apprentices handicap last month for today's rider Hollie Doyle. Has been campaigned between 1m and 2m in three previous starts at this track. 1lb higher today, but also won from this sort of mark over this trip on turf at Ayr in October 2016 (Good to Soft), so a leading contender.

Never Say6
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-12| J: D A Parkes| T: J Ward| OR:  47
33/1
15 race maiden including in nine starts on the AW. Entitled to have needed the race after eight months off at Wolverhampton last month (finished lame at Chelmsford in May 2016), but far from certain she stays this trip.

Lord Rob27
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-11| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: D Thompson| OR:  45
7/2
2lb better off with Highway Robber (second) for three quarters of a length after filling the placings behind Spirit Of The Vale in a similar C&D (Class 7) Apprentices handicap last month. However, he's never fully convinced beyond a mile during his 20 race career (maiden) and is far from certain to reverse placings with Highway Robber.

Patron of Explorest9
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-11| J: Rowan Scott| T: P Holmes| OR:  45
80/1
Ex Irish (unraced as a youngster) who despite winning on Tapeta at Wolverhampton in March 2015 (1m+) hasn't been able to trouble the judge in 14 subsequent outings. Drops to a career low mark of 40, but with good reason having finished last of 12 over 1m to Yasood at this track late last month. Finished sixth of 14 in sole start at this trip (behind Highway Robber and Lord Rob).

Forecasts

Percy Verence (3/1), Lord Rob (7/2), Exclusive Waters (4/1), Highway Robber (9/2), Wayside Magic (11/1), Outlaw Torn (12/1), Swiftee (16/1), Never Say (33/1), Patron of Explores (80/1)

Verdict

HIGHWAY ROBBER was beaten by two lengths in the first ever Class 7 race to be run at Newcastle last month, but whilst this is a grade higher, it is most certainly no stronger contest. Therefore, with this trip appearing to be his optimum, he is taken as the likeliest winner for a stable and jockey combination who have done well at this track in similar low grade contests this AW season. 1. Highway Robber 2. Percy Verence 3. Lord Rob
