Off since August when beaten favourite in a decent handicap at Ascot. Remains on the same handicap mark today and though this represents a slight step down in class, he is best watched on return.
Has been running some consistently nice races at Dundalk, and evidently handles tapeta based on previous runs at Meydan. Switched from Michael Halford's to make his first start for this trainer today and definitely one to consider.
Dropped only 2lb after finishing last of ten here on his previous performance in October. Does return to a trip he is 2/3 on, but should be found out with this weight today.
Was a very close sixth at Newcastle last time, having just got up here on his previous start. Remains on a similar mark and remains lightly races and progressive. Definite chance if able to replicate recent form.
C&D winner who was just behind Nimr in seventh at a big price at Newcastle last month. A step forward would be required and is more exposed some of these, but has still shown recent glimpses of ability.
Stayed on to win over 6f at Newcastle last time in a way that suggested this step up in trip should suit (previously inconsister over today's distance but that was on turf). 4lb rise is fair and front-running style should be an advantage. Big player.
Went close last time at Kempton on second AW start having recently struggled on the turf. Hasn't won since June 2014, when on a similar mark to this, but not at all out of the reckoning if taking to this surface and replicating his form from last time.
Makes first start for this trainer having moved from David O'Meara. Is a trip specialist but hasn't won since July 2014, and would likely need many of his key rivals to disappoint in order to pick up the pieces.
Former course winner who shaped more encouragingly over this trip last time at Lingfield when beaten under 2L. This is tougher, though, and others hold more convincing claims.
Forecasts
Captain Dion (11/4), Nimr (3/1), Russian Soul (9/2), Joey's Destiny (6/1), Shyron (10/1), George Cinq (14/1), Alejandro (20/1), Swiss Cross (22/1), Suqoor (25/1)
A relatively open race, in which Captain Dion is without a doubt a big player if this return to this distance suits on the evidence of his impressive win last time. Preference though, is for RUSSIAN SOUL, who has been running consistently well at Dundalk recently without getting his head in front. We know he handles Tapeta from some impressive performances at Meydan three years ago, and he can land the spoils on his first start for Jamie Osborne. Nimr, a very close sixth at Newcastle last time, can fill the places off a similar mark.
1. Russian Soul
2. Captain Dion
3. Nimr
