Back on a handy mark today given that he won a 2m chase at this track just 14 months ago from 108 and with November's Exeter run suggesting that he retains similar ability, he could go well now switched back to hurdles.
It has been a long time between drinks for this former inmate of Aidan O'Brien, Jeremy Noseda and Barney Curley, whose last win was over three years ago, but who remains higher than that winning mark despite a string of 11 defeats. Looks worth taking on again.
Both wins were in Ireland n heavy ground last year. Handicapper beginning to relent after some moderate recent efforts, though may need a further slide in the weights before he can be supported.
Won a novices' handicap hurdle from a 5lb higher mark almost two years ago, but largely campaigned over fences since. Trip and likely conditions suit but too many things need to go right to make him one to recommend today.
Last success came in a 1m 6f Carlisle handicap on the Flat (rated 75 in that sphere), though not able to make any impact over hurdles so far and opposed again today.
Been going very well over fences of late. Likely conditions and trip suit him here and no reason why he can't go well over hurdles, though has never won in 19 attempts over the smaller obstacles.
Place possibilities judged on his Uttoxeter run in December, but clearly a risky enough proposition given his CV, even with 10lb claimed off his back.
First start since June, though was going very well in the context of this race in the spring and claims of some prize money is fit enough first time after the break.
Been given plenty of opportunity from a mark of just 87 by the assessor for this first handicap start, although his record suggests that it is still unlikely to see him home in front again today.
Forecasts
Aza Run (4/1), Seven Summits (9/2), Moscow Me (5/1), Lake Chapala (6/1), Xhale (7/1), Chivers (8/1), Grand March (12/1), Old Magic (14/1), Dragon Khan (16/1)
A very poor race where LAKE CHAPALA may finally be able to break his hurdling duck, given that he comes here in great form from chasing. Moscow Me has slipped to a handy mark and is entitled to respect, while Aza Run and Old Magic can also get involved.
1. Lake Chapala
2. Moscow Me
3. Old Magic
