Sole success was his Lingfield debut on the Flat and hard to recommend on recent evidence.

0-7 under rules and little encouragement in three outings during December. Looks best watched at present.

Moderate mare who is 0-13 under rules. Would have a claim on some prize money if able to replicate at Towcester effort from last year, though her record suggests that she can't be relied upon to produce that.

Tried over multiple trips and on a range of going both on the Flat and over hurdles, going off at double figure prices on all but one of his nine starts. May well now see more from him switching to handcapping and a market check is advised.

Well beaten in first three starts under rules and pulled up last time, so nothing with which to recommend him.

Has made the frame three times from eight starts and is 3lb below the mark he finished runner-up from at Southwell in October, so has to have a good shout here with his rider's sizeable claim to his benefit.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: S Bowen| T: T H Weston| OR:  82

Failed to make the frame in seven attempts over hurdles so far. Handicapper is allowing him to drop down the weights but need to see some spark before recommending.

First Of Never6
Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean Quinlan| T: Miss L C Siddall| OR:  66

4lb out of the handicap ad a maiden after 34 starts are reasons enough to take on this veteran once again.

Forecasts

Stepover (2/1), Calarules (9/2), Four Mile Beach (11/2), Modulus (6/1), Diamond Reflection (6/1), First Of Never (10/1), Free Return (16/1), Air Of Glory (25/1)

Verdict

A poor contest in prospect and Malcolm Jefferson looks to have found a good opportunity for FOUR MILE BEACH to get off the mark at last. Calarules is the most interesting opponenet, for while he has not shown too much so far, his connections are past masters at getting their horses ready for occasions such as this. Stepover may complete the frame. 1. Four Mile Beach 2. Calarules 3. Stepover
