Has run well on both starts over C&D at this track including when edging out a couple of subsequent winners here three weeks ago. Not suited by racing wide at Chelmsford previously, and sure to go very close from just a 2lbs higher mark with that C&D form appearing solid.

Lightly raced, and returned from a nine month break just under two weeks ago when a solid third of four to the progressive Dazacam at Wolverhampton. Encounters her first experience of this more testing straight 5f, with her April 2016 success also coming at Wolverhampton.

Beaten just half a length at the 2016 Northumberland Plate Festival by Poet's Society in June (this trip) on just her third start as a juvenile and fairly lightly raced in handicaps since. Didn't sparkle on her final few starts (mainly over 6f), and back from a break (since September 2016) from a 4lb lower mark.

A winner over this trip at Thirsk in July 2016, and given some time off since late August, before posting a reasonable second of five on return over this trip at Southwell to Gracious Tom (Redcar Two Year Old Trophy winner Wick Powell third). Contender now switched to Tapeta on just his second AW start.

Formerly with Ann Duffield (moderate form), and last of ten on return from a seven month absence on handicap debut at Wolverhampton on her first start for Mick Appleby last week. First time visored and tongue tied.

Finished sixth in all three starts in Tapeta maidens (twice at this track), and makes his handicap debut from just a mark of 64. Others preferred.

Achieved little of note in maidens, and slow to grasp the nettle switched to handicapping before seemingly suited by dropping back in trip to 6f and switching to the Tapeta at Wolverhampton this year. Made all to score off a mark of 56, before being narrowly denied off this mark (61) just last week. Should be fine here over this stiff 5f.

Forecasts

Erissimus Maximus (15/8), Magdalene Fox (5/2), Major Jumbo (7/2), Brother McGonagall (10/1), Lady Cristal (12/1), Imdancinwithurwife (12/1), Poppy Pivot (100/1)

Verdict

A competitive contest to round off the card, with the in form Magdalene Fox likely to seek to make all after employing similar tactics at Wolverhampton recently. However, he faces some other in form rivals, with Major Jumbo unexposed on the AW and back from a break with a good run at Southwell recently, and ERISSIMUS MAXIMUS still firing on all cylinders. Chris Dwyer's colt has done well at this track and is suited by a strongly run 5f contest, with his previous C&D form having been franked by both Cajmere and Royal Celebration since. 1. Erissimus Maximus 2. Major Jumbo 3. Magdalene Fox
