Now aged 12, but not beaten far when fourth at Wolverhampton earlier this month after a nine week break following a 5f Chelmsford success in October for Dougie Costello. Veteran and winner of 16 races under rules, and now switches to a straight AW 5f tonight.

Given a good ride by Noel Garbutt to pick up the trailblazing Showdaisy late in a 5f Class 3 C&D contest last month. Only fourth when turned out 11 days later off a 4lbs higher mark, but that was a Class 2 handicap. Every chance off a mark of 84 here dropped in grade.

His last two successes have been over this trip on turf (August 2016), but has raced mainly over 6f since. Just failed by a short head to catch Alkhor over that trip at Lingfield in November, but held in two runs since (Class 3) on Tapeta.

Has been a grand servant to his trainer and was racing in Dubai at this time last year. Caught close home by the progressive Outrage (Poppy In The Wind fifth) over C&D on his penultimate start, but was a shade disappointing when a beaten favourite at Wolverhampton earlier this month.

Notched a quickfire double in the dying embers of the turf campaign (Catterick 6f, Nottingham 5f) but not in the same shape in three runs on the AW since (all over 6f). Now rated 79 on the AW and won from that mark on turf at Catterick, but needs a revival dropped back to 5f on Newcastle debut.

Made all and stuck on in a determined manner when landing a punt over 6f on the Kempton Polytrack in late November. Possibly not suited by the Southwell Fibresand when sixth of 13 over this trip from a 3lbs higher mark next time. Makes Tapeta debut, but campaigned almost exclusively over 6 and 7f during an 11 race career.

Better than her finishing position of seventh here last week (met trouble in running) and dropped a further 2lbs to a mark of 71. Attractively handicapped and obvious chance if getting the breaks despite being an AW maiden after seven starts.

Poppy In The Windv17
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-7| J: Hollie Doyle(5)| T: A D Brown| OR:  70
11/4
C&D winner (off 64) in November, keeping on strongly for Josh Doyle. Not beaten far next time off revised mark (behind Foxy Forever) and ran a blinder back here earlier this month when headed on the line by Bahango (Fredricka fifth). This contest is a grade higher but holds an obvious chance and is in good form at a track which evidently suits.

Forecasts

Poppy In The Wind (11/4), Foxy Forever (10/3), Dynamo Walt (9/2), Bold (9/2), Fredricka (8/1), Ballesteros (16/1), Salvatore Fury (16/1), Silvanus (16/1)

Verdict

Just the eight runners but a decent little contest is in store. Bold is likely to go from the front and could be tough to peg back given his proven stamina over further if adapting to Tapeta. Both Foxy Forever, and Poppy In the Wind have already shown a clear liking for this track and both can be expected to go well, whilst Fredricka is now very well handicapped and shaping as if she's beginning to come to hand. However, with a good strong pace likely, DYNAMO WALT can finish off late for Noel Garbutt and repeat last month's C&D success in this lower grade contest. 1. Dynamo Walt 2. Fredricka 3. Bold
