In terms of potential this unbeaten six-year-old has been cited by his trainer as the pick of his yard. Won his debut bumper last season, before following up under a penalty at Kelso. Back at the Borders track he ran out a ready winner on his seasonal return. The step up in trip can see him continue to progress.
The ready winner of a moderate Plumpton bumper on debut, he was not disgraced on his first start over hurdles at Newbury in December and he is kept to a similar trip here. Still has plenty of time on his side and should improve for that latest effort, hailing from a yard among the winners.
Bred to get further than this in time, though no obviously strong claims in this based on his sole start to date, when beaten a long way in a Market Rasen bumper in October.
Twice went close in bumpers at Ffos Las and Chepstow, the most recent of them being in December. Looks very much a staying chaser in the making, so with obstacles to jump for the first time and an extra half mile to travel, he is not without claims hailing from a stable that has done well on its few raids at this track to date.
Failed to show his hand in both a bumper and a hurdle start so far and may be one to do better when moving into handicap company.
Has gone off at 100/1 twice and most recently 200/1, his best effort being when 39l behind Eastview Boy at Newcastle last spring. Hard to recommend.
Albeit that he was beaten seven lengths, the recent maiden hurdle in which he finished runner-up was a decent contest, where he finished ahead of several previous bumper winners. Looks sure to have races in him and further improvement is anticipated today with his yard going very well.
Debutant who cost 4,000 Euros as a foal. Bred to appreciate at least this far in time, though likely to need this introduction.
Forecasts
Mount Mews (30/100), Melrose Boy (7/2), Creep Desbois (7/2), Eaton Hill (10/1), Ronn The Conn (100/1), Hollins Hill (200/1), Emerald Thief (200/1), Cyrano Star (200/1)
Despite the relatively small field, half of the runners make some sort of appeal. Melrose Boy represents Harry Fry, whose runners are flying at present and it would be no surprise to see him build on a profile of steady improvement. Trainer Kerry Lee does not venture all the way to this track without her runners having claims and therefore Eaton Hill has to be taken seriously, while Crisp Desbois is another who can continue to progress. However, preference is for Mount Mews, who has looked a classy, progressive performer to date and despite his penalty, he can take this step up in trip in his stride.
1. Mount Mews
2. Eaton Hill
3. Melrose Boy
