Won a maiden hurdle in good style at Towcester last May but it has to be of concern that he burst a blood vessel at Ascot in very next outing. That said he had yet to really get going when he tipped up in a chase at Taunton just after Christmas so may not be a forlorn hope if he still has the capacity to fill his lungs. He may find easier tests when he doesn't have the burden of top weight, though.

Has won off a 16lb higher mark in the past so obviously has feasible chance if he is in the right frame of mind. That hasn't been in evidence in his last handful of starts, though. And he looks one to be wary of for the time being.

Needs strong handling but is getting the hang of things over fences and arrives here in good heart. Quite whether he will cope with this step up in distance is a cause for consternation, though. The pre-race betting will be a good gauge of confidence for an each-way play.

His trainer excels with staying chasers and, despite a patchy run of stable form, this fellow doesn't have too much to find if he is thriving within himself and runs to the best of his ability. Ground conditions should not be an issue so a bold attempt may forthcoming now the tongue-tie is back in place.

Tumbled down the weights lately but has shown little to suggest that he is capable of halting the slide. Trip and ground should suit but other make more appeal on grounds of consistency.

With two wins from fourteen starts over fences, along with five placed effort also to his name, this fellow is capable of figuring as a contender in this grade. He stays the trip well and, given that he at least arrives here on the back of string of solid efforts, the ten-year-old is wily enough to capitalise if some of the rest don't rise to the challenge.

The gelding was awarded a poor race at Lingfield after Dan Skelton weighed in light aboard the first past the post. That form was nothing to write home about and, given that he threw the towel in at Uttoxeter when he was last seen out, he makes limited appeal as one for maximum faith after a ten month absence.

Prone to the odd blunder and is yet to win a race to date. However, she has more scope than most and, as she acted well over C&D on his penultimate start, Ben Pauling's mare is worth monitoring for signs of support.

Goes well at this track but has questions to answer regarding his stamina over the trip. His failure to complete last time out leaves him with something to prove.

Been kept very busy of late and is holding his form well. Was out of the weights when he had Wait A Second 7L adrift when winning here at the start of last month and should make a bold bid to uphold the form from just a 4lb higher mark. However, it remains to be seen if his recent exertions have taken their toll.

Forecasts

Wait A Second (4/1), Fly Home Harry (5/1), Midnight Folie (6/1), Northandsouth (6/1), Water Wagtail (6/1), The Jugopolist (7/1), Arbeo (17/2), Cowards Close (17/2), Lord Landen (10/1), Eaton Rock (12/1), Minella Forfitness (12/1), Followmybuttons (20/1), Albatros De Guye (40/1)

Verdict

WAIT A SECOND is on a fair mark and is a tentative selection to reverse recent form with The Jugopolist. Others worth a look in the betting include: Fly Home Harry, who is holding his form well, while Water Wagtail and Lord Landen may represent value to make the frame if the odds are appealing (anything above 5/1 would be recommended). Midnight Folie is open to improvement but is not one for the feint hearted. 1. Wait A Second 2. The Jugopolist 3. Lord Landen
