Six wins from 12 starts on the AW and only up 3lb for the latest win on this surface at Wolverhampton so clearly scope from a handicapping perspective but he's an habitual front-runner and he may struggle to execute those tactics around here. May also face competition for the lead.
Has quite a turn of foot for a stayer and proved he was in good form at Lingfield last time, staying on behind a smart ex-Godolphin horse. Should get a good pace to aim at and it's more likely to drop right for him around here than anywhere else so should go close.
Backed down to his last winning mark and that came on this surface at Wolverhampton last year. This trip looks far more suitable than his recent exploits over shorter so not ruled out but others make more appeal.
Placed just once in last 12 starts and hasn't managed to win for nearly three years. Best efforts have come on polytrack rather than tapeta and while he's reasonably handicapped, there's no suggestion he's ready to take advantage of that currently.
Hit a purple patch at the start of last year but despite his poor form of late, still not down to his highest winning mark. May also struggle to make all around here so others preferred all things considered.
Bounced back to form last time when just edged out by the brave Isharah and stable jockey replaces 7lb claimer. Not particularly well handicapped on recent form but did win from a mark 1lb higher on this surface at Wolverhampton in 2014. Place possibilities.
Looks a particularly awkward type and she's failed to deliver as a short-priced favourite on last two starts. The jockey that won upon her on her last success three starts back gets the leg up here replacing a claimer and they may be able to resume progress. A lot less exposed than many of these but faces competition for the lead if she's to repeat her latest winning tactics.
Consistent type who has placed over C&D and was in the form of his life last year. Has generally struggled when reaching this class and inexperienced claimer booked tempers enthusiasm in this quality of race. Has a break to overcome.
Forecasts
Natural Scenery (1/1), Watersmeet (13/2), Masterpaver (7/1), Barye (7/1), Winterlude (10/1), Top of The Glas (14/1), Royal Marskell (20/1), Castilo Del Diablo (22/1)
BARYE should get a strong pace to run at with plenty in here who like to lead. He may be capable of putting the race to bed with his turn of foot and the race ought to be run to suit him. Natural Scenery is obviously a quirky type but this jockey got on well with her three starts back when they made all to win at Wolverhampton. May struggle to repeat those tactics here though. Isharah should provide a clue to how Masterpaver is going to run when he contests the race immediately before this (15:00 Newcastle). They battled out the finish last time over C&D and it will be interesting to see if Tony Hamilton can find a bit more in him; he takes over from a 7lb claimer.
1. Barye
2. Natural Scenery
3. Masterpaver
