Finished last in both runs in bumpers, and out of his depth in maidens here over 1m and 1m4f. Little chance on these terms and awaiting a handicap mark.
Ex Irish (Aidan O'Brien), and bought for 10,000 Guineas at the Newmarket October 2016 Sale. Achieved little in both Irish starts (over much further) and drops back to more suitable trip, but tough task at the weights.
Stablemate of Sugarloaf Mountain who was a staying on third on debut at Wolverhampton last month, and looks likely to benefit for the step up in trip at this more galloping track.
Runner up on debut over 7f at Newmarket in September and again when headed deep inside the final furlong (second) on Tapeta debut at Wolverhampton. Not quite so good next time over further, and up marginally again.
Built on a moderate Newcastle debut over a mile, when a staying on fifth at Southwell over shorter. However, sure to be better suited to handicaps and tough to fancy stepping up in trip.
Ran well here on debut over 7f when just over four lengths fourth to a William Haggas trained juvenile. Jockey Rab Havlin presumably had the choice of rides and this step up in trip looks sure to suit.
Stablemate of Mesophere who was runner up on first two starts on turf. Caught on the line over this trip (2/5f) on second start at Bath. Folded tamely last time after leading at Wolverhampton and needs to bounce back on second start on Tapeta.
Debutant filly by Archipenko (out of Cloud Hill), and a half sister to four winners, but Ayrshire trainer not known for winners in such maidens.
Has contested course handicaps without any signs of success from marks in the fifties, so impossible looking task in this grade.
Fifth on debut at Pontefract over 6f against her own sex, but well held by Mesophere on their running here in November. By Galileo so should stay well, and one for handicaps.
Forecasts
Doctor Bartolo (9/4), Mesophere (9/4), Bowban (5/2), Vantage Point (7/2), Sugarloaf Mountain (25/1), Archibelle (80/1), Psychology (100/1), Rainbow Chimes (100/1), Medici Moon (100/1), Mystic Maeve (100/1)
A couple of horses in here of minor interest when switched to handicapping, including Sugarloaf Mountain and Rainbow Chimes, but the one that stands out head and shoulders above the others at this level is MESOPHERE. This Exceed And Excel colt shaped as if a step up in trip would suit when doing all that could be expected of him on debut here in November, and is taken to get off the mark in a weak maiden at the second attempt.
1. Mesophere
2. Bowban
3. Doctor Bartolo
