Consistent type on the AW. Much better horse on this surface than on turf with a win and four places from seven attempts. Just edged out of it over C&D at the end of last week and runs off the same mark today.
Probably the most aptly named horse in training, reaching the veteran stage now. Off the course for seven months and usually needs the run after a break. One of the more inexperienced claimers takes the ride.
Has run four times at Southwell without a win but that course doesn't suit all horses. Tried Chelmsford twice and ran well there on the second occasion, two outings ago. That was off 66, the same as today but over 6f. Tends to do his best work in the finish so this distance may suit.
Won here in mid-Summer, 2015 over a furlong and a half longer but hasn't produced a win since. Has been falling down the ratings but that hasn't produced a clear improvement in results. Off the course for nearly a year after running regularly since his debut in early 2015 and that doesn't look in his favour.
Has run over C&D ten times with two wins and three placed efforts. Needed a drop in mark and gets it today. Rated 66 when beaten just under three lengths here before Christmas compared to today's 64. Definite each way prospects.
Has been running well all autumn and winter and has come good over the distance here and at Chelmsford in his last two outings. Up seven pounds for the latest win but could carry it successfully with one of the more experienced apprentices booked to ride.
Lightly raced in the last year but not shown much in her few outings. Trained at the course and dual C&D winner. Usual visor applied and dropping down in weights but possibly still a few lbs too high.
Seems better at this trip than the mile he sometimes competes at. He may have been unsuited to the slower ground at Kempton on his penultimate outing but ran third over C&D three races ago. That gives him a good chance today off the same mark.
Tried over different trips and with various headgear of late but without a win since 2015. Looks to have fallen out of love with the game and saving a bit for himself. Jockey had just three rides and a win seems improbable today.
Forecasts
Cliff (5/6), Kenstone (7/2), Showtime Blues (10/1), Wink Oliver (10/1), Spice Mill (12/1), George Baker (20/1), Binky Blue (20/1), Q Ten Girl (50/1), Hercullian Prince (66/1)
KENSTONE is a consistent type and can take this at the expense of Cliff who has been running well of late and Spice Mill who may improve for the step up in distance.
1. Kenstone
2. Cliff
3. Spice Mill
