Man On The Spot: Spanish in position | Sunday's ITV4 racing tips

There are 10 races live on ITV4 on Sunday from Doncaster, Goodwood and Leopardstown and our Man On The Spot tackles them all.

13.45 GOODWOOD - Coral Beaten By A Length Free Bet Handicap

Spanish Angel landed the odds in a maiden at Brighton as expected and goes handicapping for the first time on her reappearance. But CASPIAN QUEEN (NAP) did well to finish second over 6f at Lingfield last week given she raced wide for most of the way and Richard Hughes’ filly gets the vote to confirm running with Pop Dancer having won over the minimum trip last year. Electric Ladyland can be forgiven a poor effort in Listed company in France last time and doesn’t looks badly treated on earlier efforts in handicaps while Bettys Hope won the Super Sprint at Newbury last summer and is preferred to Glamorous Anna.

14.00 DONCASTER - Betway Handicap

Several old favourites line-up for this sprint but the ground may have turned against a few of them, including Embour and Cowboy Soldier, while Jabbarockie is now on a career-high mark having picked up a penalty for his win at Newmarket. Camacho Chief was staying on over 6f at Newcastle but there are possibilities about course and distance winners Lahore and ORVAR. The latter looks better handicapped than stablemate Tanasoq and goes well here. Stake Acclaim is usually thereabouts but Danzan is having a first run for Tim Easterby and hasn’t won on Turf since 2017.

14.20 GOODWOOD - Coral / British EBF Cathedral Stakes

This Listed sprint is normally run at Salisbury and the Hannon yard has a fine record in the race. Moyassar is their representative this time and has been gelded since disappointing at Ascot last summer but Mark Johnston landed this with a three-year-old in 2018 so MRS BOUQUET gets the vote. She rattled up a quickfire hat-trick in July last year culminating with a victory at this venue and looks ready for this step up in class. Open Wide has the advantage of a recent run and can figure while Bungee Jump made a winning return at Newmarket, though this is much tougher. Corinthia Knight beat Puds in Listed company in September while Wise Counsel won a couple of handicaps in 2019 and makes most appeal of the rest.

14.35 DONCASTER - Betway Achilles Stakes

DAKOTA GOLD developed into a very useful sprinter last year. He won in this grade at York and Ascot after rattling up a hat-trick in handicaps and is fancied to give weight to his rivals in this. El Astronaute is very tough and won twice in Ireland last year. He was third in the Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp in October and that is probably the best piece of form on offer. Tarboosh has a terrific strike-rate but this looks too hot for the seven-year-old. Copper Knight ran well at Newmarket last week but would have preferred quicker going and Rocket Action is an all-weather specialist.

15.00 LEOPARDSTOWN - Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes

TWILIGHT PAYMENT won this last year then beat Latrobe in the Group 2 Curragh Cup before changing stables. He's run at the top level subsequently without being disgraced. Falcon Eight was beaten just under a length last year when receiving 3lb before landing a Listed race at Sandown over 2m. He should go well in Cup races this year while Emmet Mullins has acquired Group 2 winner Oriental Eagle from Germany and he's very much better than he showed on his first start for new connections at Lingfield in January. Trossachs completed a hat-trick of handicap victories last summer and continued to run well from much higher marks but Barbados, just beaten by Dashing Willoughby in the Queen's Vase at Ascot for Aidan O'Brien, has moved yards after finishing last in a premier handicap here in September.

15.10 DONCASTER - Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap

Sky Defender chased home stablemate West End Charmer at Newmarket last week but was beaten almost five lengths and is not certain to reproduce that run on this slower surface. Fifth Position was third over a mile at Newcastle but still has something to prove over this longer trip. Derevo did well last year, winning three times, but his future may lie over 1m4f. SPANISH ARCHER won over track and trip on similar going in August and was far from disgraced off this higher mark later. If ready to roll, James Fanshawe’s gelding could be a bit of value in this. Anythingtoday can’t be ignored after a promising run at Newcastle at the start of the month.

15.25 GOODWOOD - Coral Shops Reopen Tomorrow In England Handicap

All four of these step up in distance but Bright Eyed Eagle and Gibraltar return from lay-offs so this looks between the remaining pair. Glenties was placed at Haydock a week ago when giving the impression this extra distance will suit but BODYLINE is just preferred. A fast-finishing runner-up over 1m2f on his handicap debut at Yarmouth at the start of the month, he’s fancied to improve for the longer trip like so many from his yard.

15.40 DONCASTER - Betway Grand Cup Stakes

Plenty of rain has fallen on Town Moor over the past few days and the easier ground will not suit all of these. King's Advice won an incredible eight times last year but has found life tougher in recent starts. Red Verdon doesn’t really handle going this soft but conditions won’t bother Reshoun, who could trouble higher-rated rivals. GRACE AND DANGER hasn’t won since making her debut on soft ground in 2018 but she started off last year with a fourth in the Cheshire Oaks and seemed to stay this trip at Bath in the autumn. With her fillies’ allowance, she is probably worth a speculative wager.

15.55 GOODWOOD - Coral / British EBF Cocked Hat Stakes

John Gosden has a good record in this Listed event and CELESTRAN can add to the tally. A winner over 1m2f at Yarmouth earlier this month when beating Bodyline, a good run from the latter in the previous race would further boost confidence. Khalifa Sat has plenty to find with the selection on these terms while both Emissary and Fiji made winning debuts on the all-weather, though breeding suggests the former will be better suited by today’s trip given he’s a half-brother to Derby hero Workforce.

16.10 LEOPARDSTOWN - Irish Stallion Farms EBF Noblesse Stakes

PRINCESS YAIZA is rated 105 based on her excellent form in 2018 which culminated in a Group 2 victory at Longchamp. She missed the whole of last year but made an encouraging reappearance behind the in-form Bowerman at Dundalk in January and should improve enough to take this. Camphor hails from a yard in outstanding form and is well up to this level judging by her narrow defeats at Naas and Galway in the autumn. She'll be suited by further rain and looks certain to give a good account. Loveisthehigherlaw was only just behind in that Naas Listed contest. That was only her third start and she had beaten Camphor on her debut there should be little between the pair. Heliac was 3-4 last year and, though stepping out of handicap company for the first time, deserves her shot at this grade while Fresnel only raced in pattern race company after her opening maiden success.
