Darts results: Alex Hales hits an eight darter but boxer Dave Allen wins PDC charity event

England cricketer Alex Hales hit an eight-dart finish but boxer Dave Allen won the PDC Darts at Home Sportsman Special in aid of the NHS.

Before any reader is fooled into thinking the Nottinghamshire opener achieved the impossible on a dart board, each match was best-of-three legs from 301 rather than 501, but nevertheless, his route of 100-140-61 would still be considered impressive for a professional.

He went on to win the second leg with a 14-darter to complete a 2-0 win, boasting a match average of 82 in the process.

Hales, who has played 141 times for his country over all three formats, managed the feat against three-time world snooker champion Mark Selby in the final game of a tournament which had earlier been sealed by Allen.

The heavyweight boxer brushed aside Selby 2-0 in his opening match with a solid average of around 50 and by the time he'd dealt out the same treatment to Hales, he was now playing without a shirt on.

Andrew 'Beef' Johnston was his next victim although the popular golfer and big darts fan, who had earlier lost 2-0 to Hales and 2-1 to Selby, did at least manage to take a leg off the White Rhino in a 2-1 defeat.

The 'Darts At Home: Sportsman Special' was broadcast live on the PDC's YouTube channel and fans can still donate vital funds to NHS Charities Together throughout the event by clicking here.
