Darts quiz: Can you name the players who have knocked Phil Taylor out of televised major tournaments?

There have been 38 different players to knock Phil Taylor out of a televised darts major but how many can you name?

Phil Taylor won a record 16 world titles during his glittering career in which he won a total of 81 televised majors and many other tournaments to take his overall tally to well over 200!

From the 1988 BDO World Masters up until his farewell 2018 PDC World Championship, he played a total of 156 'TV majors' but only 38 different players managed to knock him out of them - some obviously having a lot more success than others!

So the purpose of this quiz is to try and name as many of the 38 as you possibly can.

As there is always discussion and debates as to what actually constitutes a 'major', for clarity this quiz will include the name and year of all the relevant events he got knocked out in. However, you'll be pleased to know you won't need to write 75 names - if a player you type has beaten him more than once, then all the relevant fields will be filled.

The events classified as 'Televised Majors' in the PDC and BDO are: PDC World Championship, World Matchplay (PDC), World Grand Prix (PDC), Premier League (PDC), Grand Slam of Darts (PDC), UK Open (PDC), The Masters (PDC), European Championship (PDC), Players Championship Finals (PDC), Champions League of Darts (PDC), World Series of Darts Finals (PDC), Las Vegas Desert Classic (PDC), International Darts League (BDO/PDC/WDF), World Darts Trophy (BDO & WDF), BDO World Championship and BDO World Masters.

* Phil Taylor didn't win the 2015 Premier League, but that was due to him finishing fifth in the group stage and therefore no single player knocked him out. The same happened in the 2007 International Darts League and 2007 Masters of Darts.

How to play and extra info:

  • Type the player/manager's full name correctly in the 'Enter Player Name' field. Just the surname isn't enough,
  • If you type the name of a player who has knocked him out more than once, then all those relevant fields will automatically be filled for you.
